Dr. Bob

Pony Racer & Books,

I spent part of the afternoon drooling over the Maxims, Chauchats and Lewis guns at the WWI Museum where I was volunteering.  Only problem is that they are behind glass and ya can't play with them. :'(  They'd go through the ammo at an EXPENSIVE rate, but it would be GREAT FUN!! ;) ;D

Would that be a "Major Lewis" gun?

That's no fooling. I have a Auto Ordnance Thompson Model 1927-A1. It is only semi auto and it still goes through the ammo at an EXPENSIVE rate, but it is GREAT FUN!! ;)

Howdy!

I'm another 2 gun shooter because of authenticity reasons.  I LOVE to shoot any and ALL- especially shotgun, but I like being authentic just as much.

Full auto?  Or fast semi?  Love it.  (Them)  I'm very grateful for one thing, 'tho.  Due to a lucky break in my Army career, I was assigned for 4 years at Ft. Knox to a unit that tested equipment.  (USAARENBD)  Because I was Combat Arms (tanks) I was on a number of projects that shot a LOT.  Of many calibers.  I'm NOT bragging, but I've fired well over a million rounds of small arms and over 5,000 main gun rounds.  (105 mm & 120 mm)  To put that into a monetary prospective, Practice  rounds (not combat ammo) for the tanks are over $3000.  Each.  The small arms I fired most was 7.62, but there's a lot of Cal. 50 in there, too, with a bunch of smaller stuff as well.  The vast majority of that was full-auto.

I want to thank each and every one of you, my fellow taxpayers  ;D  for "feeding my habit!"  The good part of this experience is, I have very little desire to scratch the full-auto "itch" because all I see nowdays is dollar $ign$ going downrange!  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D  My Dillon STILL gets a pretty good workout, 'tho - but not near as much as it used to.  :(
