That book is AWESOME, although, I have only looked at it for 10 mins. I couldn't believe what i was looking at!! Like I said I havn't see but a little of it, I have seen in the "Thread Show Your Stuff" Holsters and Belts every bit as nice or nicer than I have seen in the book, don't get me wrong, THe BOOK is AWESOME for people like me that are so green to the art of leather working,
get gives us examples and styles to go by!!

I am very glad i bought it, but I am even happier that I belong to this AWESOME GROUP of folks on the forum! :)

I want to thank all of you folks for letting me be apart of this group!

Congrads on the book , I know your going to enjoy it , and you will find yourself going back to it time and again, everytime you look at it you will see something else that you didn't see before, it's just that kind of book.

And Ace you took the challenge of getting involved and learning how to do this stuff, and you did it , you made your first rig , WOW , that's a big deal and you learned from all the Pards here in the forum, but the bottom line is YOU DID IT , I'm proud of you Pard , and this is just the beginning.

My wife refers to my book as my "Holster Bible"! You will enjoy and get so much inspiration out of that book. I like to have my wife pick a holster, and then try to reproduce it. Makes good practice. DM

Thanks for the kind words pards :) And you guys are right, the book is a very great reference to holster & belt styles of the period!
I have a question, The Hollwood styles with the drop holsters are not period correct, is that right? As all of us grew up watching the classic movies, and the TV shows like Bonzana and so on,  from what I have seen in the book so far all the holsters of the 1800's the belt went threw the holster back, whether it was a skirt style or not, is this correct?

I have to make this comment, yes they had some magor talented leathsmith back in the day but, TW, MW, DM, and many, many more on this board, have made AWESOME RIGS!! I am not stating this for any other reason! Maybe they didn't have the tools, but what I think the thing that sets guys like you apart, is that you have the creative eye!! There is no don't that in the 1800's if you had a rig like they show in this book, you were a HOT DOG :o ! But the lines and the styles and the detail is what makes you guy's work stand out  :o :o. Don't take this wrong, I will never have the talent to do the kind of work you guys do, I am not saying that I cannot work up to doing above average, but you guys are so far out of my league, it's like Little Baseball compared to the Magor Leauges!! With time, and a lot of stamps and trial and error, I think I can do some work that someone might buy.

I only wish I lived closer to some of you Pards, to watch you work! There is a gentleman that lives about 80 miles from me that has invited me over to visit, and I am going to do as soon as I can! Thanks for the kind words about my first rig, and I will do a lot better on my next because you guys give great advice and moral support, and that is very important!

Hope to talk to you soon!

I said those same words many years ago. You'll be surprised how good you will get. It just takes practice, practice
and more practice. You should see some of the work my begining students have done when the started and what
they ended up with when they finished the course.
Some people are lucky to have a god given talent and other have to learn it. Just don't give up.
