Myself I would much rather watch every Sam Elliot movie ever made that even watch a trailer for a Kevin Costner movie.

BTW "You Know My Name" is his best movie.

Del, I'm not a big Costner fan but "Open Range" is one of my favorite Westerns.  It has one of the best gun fights in it.

I thought that was a Ringo Starr song.
At any rate you can keep both of em.  Niether one of em has ever failed ta dissapoint me.  There were a couple good lines in Open Range an the part where he shoots that guy in the face, but other than that it was like watching a cardboard cutout.  If they had written that movie when Richard Widmark was still in the business, it woulda been much better.

A half way decent movie that would have been great with somebody else but Costner, DuVaul; should have teamed up with Tommy Lee Jones again. ;)

But then they would have used nothing but Colt SAAs and Winchester 92s ;D

Buck did a watercolor of Sam as "Conager". Buck gave the original to Sam. Buck took the watercolor over to the lady's studio in De Soto, Tx. She is the one that frames all his prints and she has framed the 8 prints that I have.  Sam called her studio to order the type of frame and mat he wanted. He told her that it was Sam. She said Sam who?  He said, you know, Buck's friend, Sam Elliott. She was tounge-tied and couldn't talk to him. Her husband had to take the order from Sam.

But see, Sam Elliot was not a lesbian cowgirl feedin peyote ta birds either.  Him an Costner prolly coulda both played one...if someone had asked them to.

"Lust in the Dust"  was horrible bad but the question wasn't the worst COWBOY movie ever, just the worst movie ever.  Divine had a couple of REALLY bad ones, one starring a poodle.  Hard to forget but I'm still trying.

I don't try, it's like that really bad Sharon Stone western that for now I have the good luck to forget the name of, never got through it, my time is way to valuble and won't bother tryin' to understand it. ::)

The way Costner delivers the line, "Ain't got no problem with killin', Boss ...  never have."  Is absolutely one of the best deliveries in any cowboy movie.  I like Tommy Lee too, but he could not have given the rendering to that line that Costner created.

BTW, have you seen "Mr. Brooks"?  IMHO, Costner completely vindicates himself as an actor in that movie. (double chin and all)

Lust in the Dust was awful, but Hawken's Breed has got to rate up there. Peter Fonda as a mountain man packing a pair of Pattersons and a Hawken rifle, lame script, plot, acting and effects.

I don't know if it classifies as the worst, but Hawkens Breed was pretty bad I agree. But, if we are talking about any genre let's not forget The Blob. That was just dumb.

Gee don't let the women folk know!  Most think Sam can do no wrong :D  I kind of like him myself.  I really like him in Louis L'Amour's "Conager".  I just bought the DVD to replace my wornout VHS tape ;)

Will Ketchum

You're right, Conagher is one of the best westerns made. Sam Elliott really did a good job in it. Incidentially Katheryn Ross is his wife, in real life.

Very many years ago I'd get into the movie house where my girlfriend worked for free. I saw a film, I think the name was, 'Charlie Bubbles'. It kinda followed a guy around until he got into a hot air balloon and floated off. Ever after the credits were finished I kept sitting there expecting something? I left the movie house in kind of a daze.
Yes, I do have more facial hair now.

You haven't see a really bad movie until you have watched "The Toxic Avenger."

A really bad movie is Battlefield Earth staring John Travolta. Based on a book by L Ron Hubbard. It is god awful. I rented it and watched it but found myself losing interest with all the terrible acting, terrible script and the story was boring. This is the same guy who brought the world Scientology. Enough said.

Don't forget "Return of the Toxic Avenger", and I thought Attack of the Killer Tomatoes was bad!

The thing is, those movies were made to be bad. They were actually trying to make a campy, low budget movie and to be a parody of other movies. The Toxic Avenger movies were made by Troma films to be nothing more than gore fests that were targeted towards teens who loved gory movies. It was a joke for it's customers. As was any movie made by Troma. Same with Attack of the Killer tomatos. Was a movie made to be bad. Sounds like they hit the mark. lol

Now. Plan 9 from outer space and Battlefield Earth were made to be serious movies. They just turned out terrible. Plan 9 was made by Ed Woods who had a history of making terrible movies. But it never stopped him from trying.
