Nice cannon, but not the one I had in mind.  the one I'm looking for looks like a side fed Gatlin-gun., has 6 barrels and is in 37mm. (1&1/2")

That was a large bore Gatling. The other cannon shown on WWT was a breech loader single shot. That was what was used at Wounded Knee.......Buck 8) ::) ;)
I might be slow, but I'm mostly accurate.....

Any Gatling gun is laoded with tons of style points.

I saw one at Aberdeen Proving Grounds in 1965 that had been equipped with a steam drive mechanism for use on river boats in China.  It runs in my mind that it was over an inch bore, too.

Had a lever on one side with a squeeze handle to fire it.  Very fast.

They also had a 30-40 Krag Gatling gun with an electric drive.  For a magazine full it fired over 2,000 rpm.  More than that and it burned out.  They had it sitting next to an original Vulcan gun to show the way the two were similar and they explained the developement of the Vulcan from the Gatling.

The only other thing I saw that day that impressed me was a Davy Crocket atomic round system.  Barn door accuracy at over 4,000 yards from the back of a jeep.

Not quite a Gatling, but same principle:

The following info. was found on: http://www.fieldsofthunder.com/artillery.htm

Quote1885 Hotchkiss Revolving Cannon

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

One of the more unusual artillery weapons employed against the Indians was the 37mm Hotchkiss revolving cannon. During the Milk River Campaign of 1879 the Hotchkiss revolving cannon was used against Sitting Bull's warriors.  This gun was also used in Cuba during the Spanish American War.

HOTCHKISS Revolving Cannon ballistics information

This rare revolving cannon has 5- 37mm barrels, capable of firing 43 rounds a minute with an accuracy range of 2000 yards (approximately 1 mile). Each feed magazine holds 10 rounds, weighing approximately 18 lbs. The revolving cannon is accompanied by a horse drawn limber, which holds 110 rounds plus 6 magazines totaling 170 rounds.

This might bother some of you folks, but this is a French made gun.

It it really bothers you that much... it was developed by an American.

I wonder if Norinco will ever build them to market them to Cowboy shooters?
Mathew 5.9

Delmonico

Hotchkiss was an inventor that invented several arms that used his name including a bolt action 45-70 repeater tried by the Army in tests.

litl rooster, there a guy round here that makes them Hotchkiss revolvin' cannon, uses a 40 Bofors case with the shoulder and neck cut oof and the 'lectric primer modifed to use a 20 gauge AA case head.  I belive the bullet is about 1500 grains and uses 'bout a hand ful of Fg in the case.  Yes I've seen one fire, no I didn't want to pay $10 a round to crank it. ;D

I think they were round $25,000 the last time I asked.
