Camille Eonich posted this to thread "Anyone talk to Big Ed lately?" after a number of people had expressed a lack of service from Big Ed.
"Why don't you just give him a call or send him a certified letter?  You can always contact the BBB in Tombstone too if the phone call or the certified letter doesn't work.
I don't think that daily post here about Big Ed's lack of contact is going to help much."

I took her advice: sent him a certified letter and finally got the receipt back, no follow up contact, no product and no refund. I then reported him to the Arizona Attorney General's Office which has been "working (?)" on my complaint since Oct 2007. Today they sent me an e-mail with the following request:

I really would like to know how pervasive a problem there is.  Is there a way that you can let people know on that forum that if they are having a problem with non-delivery or no refund  etc. from a business in Arizona that they can file a complaint with our office?   They can file on-line at www.azag.gov.   Our complaint form can be found in the "Quick Links" drop down menu  located in the upper right hand corner of the home page.

So, anyone else that has been ripped of by Big Ed you can file on-line at the site shown above www.azag.gov

I have never ordered from him and never would.  I can tell you that if your thread were posted on the SASS wire it would not last long.  We shall see if it stays up here.  From what I have read on both sites, there is a big problem with this particular vendor.  Some companies fall behind due to volume, but always end up delivering what they promise.   This is apparently not the case with San Pedro.   I think alot of pards are reluctant to call the law in on Big Ed because of his "past" reputation and the fact that he is a fellow shooter.  Good luck in your quest, but I fear you are in for a very long ride.   Regards.  Deadeye.

I filed a complaint against SPS with the Tombstone BBB after not getting responses either. I was just contacted this morning by a representative of their office asking if I had taken delivery of my order. Thankfully I did get it about a year ago. If I recall correctly Hombre Sin Nombre had sent me a PM on the SASS Wire about waiting well over a year with no contact, and that was some time LAST year.

I think the only reason I may have gotten mine in the relatively short time span of 7 months was that my wife, who was just getting into the whole SASS thing, sent him a letter about The Cowboy Way and may have shamed him into completing it. And this was for a completely custom double strong-side Johnny Ringo rig for 7 1/2" Vaqueros, not off the shelf stuff. I feel very lucky to have gotten it after reading all of the various threads on troubles with SPS.

But I will say this. It is a first class, A-one rig and will probably outlast me. If he ever cleared his back log, I would order another setup from him, the workmanship and materials are some of the best I've seen in 6 years of CAS.

I highly reccomend texasgunslinger.com

Talk to Tom Hancock--he's the man.  He built my rig durring the Christmas rush, an when it showed up too small he took it back an paid to over night the replacement here.  I posted about him over in the leather shop a while back an hope it has given him some business.

Well it's goin on three years fer the rig I ordered from him and paid a hefty deposit. He answers my emails and keeps saying he's "working on it" but I ain't seen nuthin 'cept promises.

Rekkon it's about time I started gettin nasty. Last time I had a problem with a seller in the U.S. the State Department got involved ('cause it's "international business") 'n' the poor bugger got descended upon my a bunch of U.S. agencies, got audited, 'n' the whole works.  :o

There's thieves who iz honest 'bout bein thieves then there's others ......

Biggest bee in my bonnet is that SASS protects this low-life and lets him go on stealing.

Which is why this thread would not have lasted on the SASS Wire, but it does here because the moderators believe in FREE SPEECH.    Real sorry to hear of your troubles.  I think you have shown the patience of Job after waiting 3 years, so whatever you do now is justified in my view from afar.

3 YEARS?!?
If ya did put down a deposit (or worse yet PIF) way back when scream about this from every mountain top.  As an independant buisiness owner I know how important customer service is.  Anyone who forgetts that deserves to go under.  I don't know where you're at, but if you need numbers for local angencies, I'll be glad to look em up and send em on.  This kind of thing really burns me up.  >:(

OK, I saw yer website--Canada.
There are many agencies here that most folks don't even know about, like the BAR when a mechanic screws ya.  The BBB is inundated with stuff like this so the trick is to find the specialized angency that is siting there just waiting to help.
I'd say get yer deposit back and send yer order to another craftsman.

Boys, I'm gonna come in on the side of Big Ed.

Them's my first pair of San Pedro Saddlery holsters.  They didn't cost too much and I got 'em right quick.  I've worn 'em alot and I've fallen off of that big horse wearing 'em too.

I got a whole set that looks like that one in the middle.  One of these days I'll get my wife to take some more pictures for me and I'll post 'em.  SWEET!  Is the only word I can think of to describe 'em.

Big Ed's had some health issues you all.  He's also had trouble with his workforce.  He's been up front and honest about it too.

I come from a long line of "If you can't say something nice, don't say nothing at all."  What's wrong with you all?

3 years, that's what's wrong.
I feel for the man if he has health trouble, but don't bite off more than you can chew.  Up front means not taking a dime if you can't deliver.  Well, I'm sure you've heard all about excuses so I'll leave it at that.

There are plenty of high quality leather craftspeople around to chose from.  I think it is one thing to take a long time to deliver on promised leather goods, but it is quite another thing to take money up front, make frequent promises for delivery that you dont keep and avoid taking calls or responding to email.  I am hard pressed to think of any other type of business  that could get away with that and still stay in business.  I hope everyone eventually gets what they paid for and then makes a good decision about who to give their next order to.   Regards.  Deadeye. ........hoping the weather improves so we can get out and shoot.

Well John, that may be the way yer used to doin' bizzness, but it ain't the way honest folks do it.  But to each his own, if he had my money that long I'd be pushing legal action. :)

Well he ain't done right to a lot of people of late, I ain't got a dog in this fight, but tired of hearin' about folks gettin' shafted, and there ain't anything you can call it but shafted.  Don't have a dog in the fight, glad I don't but just because you got what you want don't help all those folks who didn't.  If your money was gone for 3 years and still didn't have the product would your attitude be the same, I doubt it. ::)

Big Ed has a huge heart, he has helped my family in a time of crisis, and we've never met personally.  I do consider him an friend always because of this.  I've got lots of great San Pedro holsters and belts, and yes he's owed me a custom knife sheaf for more years than I want to think about and know I'll never get.  It's also my opinion that Big Ed took on too many orders that he didn't have the resources to fill in a timely manner, his health went deep south on him, and he's in the toliet financially because of those health issues, and he's to darn embarassed to ask for help.  Maybe we should get Shoot Magazine to run a benefit for him next year and help this man who has helped so many of us....

A guy from Kansas would know about having other people's money in his pocket.  That's for sure.

It's gettin' alittle testy in here. Let's leave the personal shots out, or I'll lock this thread in a heart beat.
