Colonel,  I have a box of ten-X and it is Jamison brass. :)

Didn't Hobie buy a box of loaded TenX 45-75's and the brass was made by Bertram?

That's right (got two boxes but had ordered five).  They couldn't get the brass from Jamison (who's filling military contracts) so they bought Bertram and their prices went up accordingly.  I was not pleased with that but took advantage of having some of the Bertram brass to examine as I would NEVER pay that price for brass which, based on my experience with other cartridges, isn't as good as it should be.  IME, the Bertram brass is about like the S&B brass, quality is inconsistent, some is brittle (it tends towards brittle).  Shooting it the first time usually tells the tale but it is then too late to anneal or take any mitigating steps to save it.
Sincerely,

Hobie

It could be that they are using what they can get. :-\  Checked mine again, and it is Jamison, but mine is 45-60 brass. :)

They are different from reformed 348 brass the shell holder is a lee #23 which only fits 45-75 and will not fit 348 brass while the #8 will not fit my 45-75 brass.  I can not find a #23 anywhere for an auto prime hand tool.

I agree with Hobie.  I had gotten a box of Bertram for my 45-75 when I started loading for it.  The first rounds produced a ring around the head--sort of like a "Belted Magnum" and I had one split at the shoulder.  I have that one now as a "dummy" round for "Show and Tell".  Verrrry bad QC as far as I am concerned and for the price it is a looser!  You should see the raised eyebrows when they see that "dummy" round! ;)  I now use formed 348 brass and formed Starline 50-90 cases.  Both have turned out super.
When in doubt, mumble!

Yes, I think you're right.  They go as cheaply as possible but with correct headstamp.  Starline should be a supplier soon!   ;)

Yep, and I'll be willing to bet that they will get it right at a reasonable price! ;D
