Nice photos.  I'll offer a quote from the Marcot book, Spencer Repeating Firearms with regard to your question on number of M1867 Spencers produced.

"...the exact number of Model 1867 carbines may never be known.  A study of serial numbers places the best estimate at 12,000, most of which were shipped overseas for French forces in the early 1870s, prior to the Franco-Prussian War".
