we've been buying a lot of aspargus  lately, been being real cheap, I guess they are getting it out of Mexico or south Texas, it sure has been some good eating.   ;D
can't hardly wait to get some goodies out of the garden.
I love sparrow grass.  However the side effects can be quite arromatic.  In fact quite disturbing to those who do not know.  I actually almost went to the docs because I thought something was wrong. :o ::) ;D

Well that did not take too long.  Only 20 + pages.  Serves me right for not poking my head in at least once a day.  Did you all miss me?

Welcome too EEJ.

Thanks for the Coffee Cuz Tom and I'll lay off the grub today.  I've shaved 5 lbs off my body in the last 10 days.  I only have 40 more to go to be back to where I was in March of last year. ::)

I've been refining my accumulation and making it into an actual collection with a purpose and dirrection.  I'm focusing primarily on US martial arms.  I came across a pistol that is perfect for a Wild Bunch match.  I had to sell two other guns to come up with the $$ but I'm quite happy with my purchase.

Colt 1911 circa 1918.  Has original finish, correct barrel and magazine.  I have ordered an appropriate grip safety as this one is a WWII replacement.  I have shot it, but I won't be shooting it any more till the new set of springs gets here.  Enjoy the pics.

If it can't be nice, eaten, make money, create comfort or provide real pleasure.........kill it or trade it in on new one!

Four-Eyed Buck

Nice one, Stoney ;D Over to Belle Alley, Kid Sopris just took delivery of a brand new Colt made one of the same variety.
Morning all. Internal alarm got me up early today( read bladder). Currently 37, the sun's just starting to come up. Sky looks sorta blue where it's lit enough....................Buck 8) ::) ;)
I might be slow, but I'm mostly accurate.....

The deer 'round here are dispersing too. Seeing a bunch crossing the roads after verk.

Saw a bunch of wild turkeys in a driveway a couple days ago. Must of been 20-30. Don't know what was attracting 'em.

SP, I must give up too quick looking at all the auction spaces for a older 1911 Military, Or you got them all corraled up.  That's a nice looking gun.  Hope it works well for you.  On the other hand I find 1905 and 1917 revolvers all the time but run out of money before I can hook one

This one fell into my lap.  A local gent posted on another forum I visit and asked of anyone knew the value.  We met and I shot it and gave him two prices.  One if finish was original and one if it was a refinish.   His asking price was smack in the middle.  I have since confirmed that it is original finish.  I hope to find a 1917 someday.  I had sweet one in my hands approx. three months ago.  I passed because the price was too high for one with after market grips.  I have since found a set of grips for only $55.  Wish I'd have bought it. :-\

Hey everybody,

Been doin housework with the kids being on spring break. Got to do the Honor Guard thing at a retired policeman's funeral tonight. 15 minute coffin guard, rotating shifts from 7:00pm til around 8:30 pm at the funeral home. He was a good detective and friend so I feel its the thing to do.

Nice pistola SP. Thanks again to all the other folks welcoming me here. Leo, I'll have to teach you that one reference having the night to yourself. It comes with alot of practice. HA HA. I really do enjoy spending time with the little guy just the two of us. Hope this warm weather will stay around now. No need for the cold. It didn't get cold enough to kill the bugs anyway.

Guess I won't be talking to yall tomorrow. We're taking the kids to D.C.

I reckon what gun-grabbers couldn't do the firearms industry can. They're pricin' stuff to the point folks are gonna lose interest.

Just gottah e-mail from a pard sayin' the same thing 'n he's in a position to know. Been told lead is bein' snatched up by the Chinese at a premium price. Much of the production of ammo has been given over to military applications makin' the production of stuff for civilian sales, powder, bullets, primers 'n loaded cartridges, less profitable. It's gone exactly as an ammo vendor told me it was gonna go over a year ago.

Used to be an inexpensive hobby. When ya figure in gas at over three bucks a gallon on a hundred 'n twenty mile round trip, that's my closest local, then the cost of ammo it gets to be a bit much.

Makes a casual mornin' at the indoor, a thirty mile round trip, free range time 'n less than a buck for paper to play with the Glocks look more 'n more attractive from day to day. Just stay away from the place on weekends 'n holidays. That's when the idiots show up.

Sorry to hear that Will.  EEJ welcome, but I thought you were here before, maybe not, memory ain't so good.

Don't do arty-chokes, they is sorta ok, but they is also a thistle, don't eat thistles, I chop em out with a grubbin' hoe.  ;D

I would love to feed a big bunch of folks a bunch of sparrow grass sometime out with the cook camp.   ;D  Be funny to find out how many of them don't know what happens.  BTW if anyone needs a new recipe for the stuff, I got a recipe in one of my 1880's cookbooks for sparrow grass puddin'. ::)
