The 9? Does the poor-poor-pitiful-me-can't-win-on-a-race-track-so-I'm-gonna-pull-my-pants-up-'n-go-home-to-the-land-of-the-Holden get only a passin' glance goin' thru tech?

Or, does the hispanic 'Cuban Rocket' in the iconic 43, only marginally better'n Patrick, get the nod thru tech in the name of diversity?

Petty is the iconic name of NASCAR...he is the all time race winner & only living 7 time Champ ( at least until Johnson pulls it off ).

Petty VS Patrick is hipe & $$$$$, The King said it himself , "She's good for the sport ($) & good for him ($) cause it furthers the sport ...
Good press, bad press is still Press ..and press is good.

Does Petty need to prove anything ...no I would not think so , but the press would help his teams bottom line...

and your assumption of the "9" & "43" is just about spot on ....

Thought I do like the Aussie and his road course down under style, always enjoy a good Road Race.

The wife text-ed her " and responded it was WET & nasty ...not sure what they will do...stay or leave ?
I suppose the track announcer is say'n' the same as the TV broadcasters, clear around 6PM and they run under the lights.

The weather delays are always tough on the folks that have to go home or work tomorrow. It always seems to rain down there this time of year. The roast is smelling good, the veggies should go in about now and cook for a couple more hours.

When the fat lady 'n I'd go before the kids came along, we'd leave leave slips for Monday in case of reschedulin'. If we showed up for work they'd tear 'em up. Never did have to wait. I know some folks aren't able to do that tho.

It was nice that you could do that. Congrats to Junebug on his Daytona 500 win, and I am glad that dumb and dumber did not win. I was sleepy by the time that the race got restarted. I did manage to stay awake until it was over.

Just looked over the unofficial. A few of the low budget folks picked up some relatively solid finishes.

Cassill 12th – 300+K.
Sorenson 16th – almost 350K
Bowman 23rd – 334K
Wise 24th – 332K

Damned near 0930. Gotta get my hind end movin'.......

I think that everyone that started the race got 250,000. That sounds like a lot of money, but in financing a Nascar team, it is just a drop in the bucket. The price tag for one of the big 3 teams is about 30 Million for a year.

If I was to write a NASCAR Hollywood script ..it have the emotional return of the #3 and it gets the poll..
then JR. wins in a rock-um sock-um finish with the #3 in the final mix and three past champs following suit.

through in Denny as the fastest in the prelims and you got a 3 hour MOVIE.

So JR. in in the Chase (win- you're in )

Never was a big Earnhardt SR. or Jr. fan, but the guy is polite... good for him ...

Bet Johnson wins California !

I was disappointed when Dale Jr. signed with Hendricks. Hendricks is a crook and I don't trust him any farther than I can throw him. He is a typical used car salesman. Johnson and Gordon get the best equipment, Jr. And Kayne get the leftovers. Jr. needed that win. I would like to see him win the Championship, but I know that won't happen.

My Daughter stayed to the end, got home about 3AM ...and took the day off ...Brought me a 500 T-shirt....
She wants me to go next year , said she was not really fan, but was now !

Back when I raced IMSA in the Camel GT era , we were a billing of sorts for the Firecracker 400 ... the Paul Revere 250 GT Road Course race...
That was the only NASCAR race I ever attended (as we were there anyway) ...
