Maybe a "Black Box" should be mandatory in Top Fuel and Funny Car.

Didn't wanna hi-jack any more of LR's thread.

The 'junk when we unloaded' thing............

Jeff Gordon described the drivin' ability of the younger Busch as 'amazing'. Gordon has won on that track five times he should know. He said Busch passed him 'n he was slidin' sideways all over the track, yet he didn't drop a tire off the pavement once all day.

I don't care much for the boy. But I have to acknowledge his car control ability. The skinny, ugly kid can drive anything NASCAR on any track NASCAR visits 'n win. With the win Sunday he's proved it. Not a backdoor win on pit strategy, he flat wore 'em out.

Thinkin' he's slowly maturin' under the guidance of 'The Coach', Joe Gibbs. Kindah thinkin' Hendrick wishes he'd let Mears go instead of Busch to make room for Junior.

I'm with you on the deal with HMS.  Poor Ol Mears couldn't win a race even if he was the only car.

I watched the Nationwide race from Loudon.  That #20 was the class of the race for last part. It don't seem to matter who drives that thing. All the drivers who have driven it have won.

She's been stout no matter who drives it.

Sittin' here killin' time watchin' this open wheel thing from Richmond. Think the 'best drivers in the world' done tore up six cars in forty laps. Oh well. The crummy rednecks in trucks start before long. That'll be worth watchin'.

WOW!!! Nine on the lead lap. Twelve all totaled. Got two rollin' wrecks back out for points. Fourteen off the track. Winnin' margin was almost five seconds. Awesome!

Comparin' the winnin' margin in the truck race wouldn't be fair. They finished under a G/W/C. Before the last caution four trucks were within less than six seconds from the leader. Twenty seven on the lead lap 'n thirty of the thirty five that started were still on the track. Borin'.

All that from the ticker 'n unofficial.

Hornaday got the points lead back.  Benson dropped to about 5th in points.  I'm really gettin hooked on these truck races. Don't have to watch wonder wimp, or his little buddy.

Like the trucks better than Nationwide. Gottah admit the live gate didn't look very healthy last night.

Benson wound up 4th in points, 56 back. There's still plenty of races left.

When Johnson came in, a lot of folks tagged 'im 'Mini-Me' meanin' he was hand picked by Gordon to be his clone. Some of 'em still use it.

Sounds like a good plan Tex.
For me the "Big Three" are the Firecracker, the Brickyard an Daytona.  I love all them cars.  Used ta watch the Monaco with my Dad but haven't seen one in some years.  Loved watchin them tear up real city streets, the cobblestone has make fer a challenge.

Back in the early 60s they would have a race at Daytona prior to the 500. It was called the Permantex 300 and it was for modified Stock cars.   There were late 50s and erly 60s models with modified engines. Thet could run 2 4s or 3 duces and a different brand engine.  My favorite was a 56 Stude with a 327 chevy motor.  The Busch series came in the Late 70s and the Modified Stock cars disappeared.

Watched a Hooters Cup replay on Speed Channel from Myrtle Beach, SC.  Ol' Sat. night "bullring" with pavement.  Arcey, I heard MM is leaving DEI.  They didn't say where he might go.   Rumors are stirring again about Tony leaving JGR and buying Carl Haas teams. I also heard that he might try to get Newman to go with him as co-owner. Both of them are from Indiana and Newman went to Purdue.

The Army is in negotiations with Bill Davis, not to replace Caterpillar but on another car. Sorensen 'n McMurray in limbo.
