'Preciate the explanation, y'all.

Ain't heard no news yet on the last lap thing 'cept they were treatin' folks in the stands. I pray it weren't as bad as it looked to me with juck flyin' all o'er the place.

Edwards walked away from it, matter of fact, he walked to the finish line. Not sure about the driver of the car he rolled over...................Buck 8) :o

All the drivers are ok. The cars are tanks. Edwards landed on Newman. What looked like that's what launched the 99. 'Fore that looked ta me the flaps were puttin' it down.

Eight people hurt. None life threatenin'. Bruises, lacerations 'n fractures. Two women air lifted to the hospital. One smacked in the face. Jaw may be broken.

Awwww hell, boys. There are days when ya just wish ya hadn't read the news.

From the Charlotte Observer/Thatsracin: David Poole, an Observer reporter who became one of country's leading authorities on NASCAR, died of a heart attack this afternoon. He was 50. Poole had just returned from last week's race at Talledega, Ala. He was at his Stanfield home when the heart attack occurred. His daughter called 911. Emergency crews rushed him to the hospital in Stanly County, where he was pronounced dead. Poole, a Gastonia native, became the Observer's NASCAR writer 13 years ago. He hosted "The Morning Drive" show weekday mornings on Sirius NASCAR Radio. He was a four-time winner of the National Motorsports Press Association's George Cunningham Award as the organization's writer of the year. "He was the best in his field, there's no doubt about that," Observer editor Rick Thames said this afternoon in announcing Poole's death to a hushed newsroom. Poole's final column ran the day he died. In it he called the track at Talledega an "anachronism" after a day of dramatic crashes Sunday. "Talk about guys who own their beat, that's what David did," said Observer sports editor Mike Persinger. Guest book: Post your condolences.(4-28-2009)

I read every article Poole wrote. If he published it ya could take it to the bank.

Poole was grossly overweight. I often wondered how he flew. Guess it got 'im.

Go forth, David Poole. Live with the Lord forever. You will be sorely missed.

Arcey, I noticed in the last week or so the Dodge engines have been blowin' up.  It noticed it in the ARCA race as well as NASCAR.

Thought them whut weren't wrecked were runnin'. Honorable mentions ta the 2, sixth, 'n the 43 in eleventh.

Knew Petty found problems with two motors durin' practice so they changed 'em in all three cars 'n had ta start 'em in the back. Don't think they're runnin' the new motor yet.

Ya know me. Wouldn't have a Chrysler onna bet but I don't want 'em out of the game. With the gooberment runnin' the show I wunner how much longer.

Got busy 'n fergot the ARCA race.

Onna 'nother note, hearin' the tire tests it Indianapolis didn't go well. If I was runnin' the show this year'd be it if George won't fix it. Move the date ta Iowa. That's a nice track. State of the art.

I know they make a lot of money on the Brickyard race, but I guess I'm too "OLD SCHOOL". Indy is too narrow for stock cars and the track can be dangerous at any speed.  The tire problem last year was terrible. Goodyear needs to solve the problem NOW!   THe Dinger lost a couple of engines at Talladega last week, and you're right about RPM still using the old engine.

They got 'em ta twenty five. Better'n last year but it ain't a fuel run.

I'm old school too but I'm old school stock car. Me, I, a committee of one, opinion, is thinkin' all George wants 'em there for is the same thing NASCAR wants 'em there for – money. George needs it, NASCAR doesn't. George is oriented to the other stuff 'n that means Firestone. He's configured the track to suit that combination. I have Firestones on the truck now. My second 'n last set of 'em.

With the current car 'n the grooves cut in the track, on top of tryin' ta develop a totally new tire fer week ta week racin', that track is takin' too much time, effort 'n money on Goodyear's part.

I can be ruthless. I see what's happenin' with the open wheel stuff. Some folks are sayin' it's dyin'. Looks more ta me it's committin' suicide. Leave. Three 'er four years, buy the place fer pennies on the dollar, fix it fer stock cars then go back.

I liked Indy when it was USAC open wheel and the old front engine Offy roadsters. I never any luck with Firestone Tires. The County uses Firestone tires and I always had prolems with the tires on my take-home. I wouldn't have a set either. I bought a set of HANKOOK tires for my Gold Pickup. So far, they have been good.

The truck requires a speed rated tire. Was werkin' fer NAPA 'n asked Ski ta make a few calls. Sounded like ah good deal on the Firestones. Been a long time since the first set. Figgered things had changed. Didn't. Good ta the new wears off. After that they're junk. Never again. I'll pay more for Goodyears or Toyos. Never had a bad Goodyear 'n Toyo is supposed ta be the best goin' right now.

Ain't got no say in it. They awready have Silver Crown cars with different motors 'n chassis. Seems ta me them would be mighty fun ta watch fer 500 miles. Let the teams run wild with 'em like they did when I was a kid, within safety perimeters. Hurt me seein' what they did ta Granatelli's turbines. He had a better idea 'n it was kilt. Ain't been the same since.

Ya prolly know more 'bout it than I do. Just seems back in the day that race was wide open. Run what ya brung.

Most everybody had a Kurtis chassis and an Offy engine. The cars were as even as possible. No computers, No power steering, just a driver and his car. There was nothing like it ever.  Indy is Indy.

Skippin back ta what Arcey said about Chrysler, thinkin their NASCAR days'll be hangin by a thread soon.  NASCAR is not a socialist nations sport.  Thanks ta them idiots were one step closer ta bein one.

Rant out.
