Hmmmm, guess if ya want a new one, then get a Stoger or Baikal, but if you want an older type, you might look into a savage fox, stevens.
From what I gather, there are no perfect ones right out of the box for us CAS folks. Seems there is always something that needs to be done to make them work smooth and fast for us folks.
Roam the classifieds on the boards and maybe you will find one that has already had some slicking up done to it.
Just a suggestion, but you need to go where your heart is. If you like hammer doubles, hammerless or a pump, it is you that will be shooting it.
Good luck in finding just the right one for you. You can do it  :)

I'll go along with Doodyville Dude.  Stoeger and/or Baikal seems to be the most popular with the Pards I shoot with; however, I use a Zabala SxS that's really good.  One thing for sure, lube up the action really good; and might even want to polish the tubes where you insert the shells.  I use toothpaste and shine 'em up really good before every match.  Otherwise, I'm in the market for a Stoeger also as a "just in case".  Hammer guns are a personal choice and if you like 'em -- go for it!!

Another little trick for polishing your shotgun chambers is to get some triple x superfine steelwool form the hardware store.  Wrap it around your cleaning jag, place it in a drill, spray a little WD-40 on it and spin polish your chambers.  Don't over do it.

Iff'n ya want a real quality gun, look for a Browning BSS or an SKB.  Iff'n it's got ejectors, they can be easily disabled and turned to extractors.  I really like my SKB.

I have a Bounty Hunter in 12 guage.  I decided on that because of the screw-in chokes.  After having it slicked up, it is a sweet number.  I also have a Chink do ;)uble with hammers.  I cut the springs back and it does just fine.  It is ugly, but so am I so who is to compare.  Remember, a hammer gun opens really easy because it is not cocking the hammers as a hammerless gun must.  It can be quicker if you get a good routine down for loading and you will seldom look down to discover your double is not open all the way.

Howdy,

The Baikal is the best of the cheaper guns, for my money.  But there are lots of other shotguns out there, in fact, I seem to be finding a lot of old american doubles, with a brown patina and not much wear in the gun shops.

Too many to pay too much, unless you are looking for the best competition guns, which can get a bit pricey.
Adios,
