I actually handled the Fahenstock Henry and that original tintype!  It was about 1995, and a pard of mine was an antiques dealer.  Her called me and said he had someone trying to sell an old Winchester and wanted my opinion. n It was the Fahenstock Henry, had the tintype, discharge, and some letters!  The guy was asking $9,000.  I told him to mortgage his house or sell his wife, but BUY it.  Unfortunately the seller came to his senses, took it back, and auctioned it off for mega bucks.

What a feeling to handle the rifle, and hold the tintype of Fahenstock at the same time.  There was a swirl of ghosts in the air!

I also handled a Henry at an antiques roadshow type event put on at the art museum in Sacramento about 4 years ago.  A guy had one that had come down from his great grandfather who owned a rooming house in Virginia City NV in the late 1880s.  He took it in payment from a boarder that went broke.  The dealer on duty their their told him it was worth $8,000, but it was in really good shape, and I told the guy it was more like $15,000 at least.  It was sweet!

The third one I handled (actually I just got to touch it) was the "Ed Schieffelin" Henry in the court house museum in Tombstone, AZ when I was behind the scenes for the Chronicle article I wrote about eight years ago.  That was really cool, too!
