I did some research and found one at 1880 Western Wear. They custom make them with Bull Denim. They happened to have my size on the shelf from a Pale Rider reinactment photoshoot...hehe. I bought it, and it's in the mail. Their customer service is great. Very nice people.

Skinny Preacher, . . good for you  :) .   I had a look over there.   Some nice stuff, . . . hefty prices.  Nice men's shearling jacket. . . but I'd bought one in Stockton last fall for  $ 15.00 in a thrift shop.  Just today was staining the buttons made from Elk antlers to put on it.  Will be "neat" for cold weather wear.  Are you doin' a "Pale Rider" outfit ? . . . . post pictures.  Do ya have a horse yet ? . . . ha, ha. . . . But that would be pretty neat for mounted shootin', . . . !  Good shootin', . . .  :)
Beware the man with one gun, he probably knows how to use it.

My SASS alias is Skinny Preacher, influenced by the Preacher in Pale Rider.

I started CAS as 'Skinny', but added Preacher when I became a SASS member 3 yrs ago. Started with a black shirt from Cabelas with white collar and a pair of Wrangler Riatta pants in black. Then a year later my sister bought me a preacher style vest from a 1800s clothing dealer online. I don't think they make it anymore. I also have the Preacher hat from Jacksonbilt hats. For cold weather, I've been wearing a poncho that I bought in Colombia. I got lucky on the 1880 Wester Wear Preacher Frock Coat. Evidentally it was the one used in a Cowboy and Indian Magazine photo shoot (look for the pics in the June 2008 edition). Once it comes in I'll post some pictures of it. I'll post some current pics shortly.

Well.... see, if you take your time, you get a more harmonious outcome.

It actually is an outhouse...I built it for a shoot that my buddy came with me to. He didn't have a cart...needed more storage.

Black Powder

I believe this might be pretty darn close for a Pale Rider coat.  It's called a "Paletot" and is available at http://www.cornerclothiers.com/coats.htm.

Here's a related discussion from a re-enactment forum: http://www.websitetoolbox.com/tool/post/shootists/vpost?id=1724038.

The coat from 1880 Westrn Wear came in the mail today...i have the black scarf too, but forgot about it when we took the pics.
With a little wear, I think it should fade to a dull red nicely.

I have the Corner Clothier Paletot and it is a quality garment. I 'm sure I have a photo of myself standing  somewhere, but till I find it, have a look at this one:

I had ordered one of the "Pale Rider" frock coats from 1880 Western wear about 18 months ago. After a few phone calls, I'm still waiting for it to arrive.

I know another place that can provide that. Only they call it the High Plains Drifter.
