They did a nice write up on it, too.
GAF should get some mileage outta that.
And some new recruits, maybe.

Let's ponder about doing it for the 2008 SASS convention, too.
Do you reckon we would have a shot at it again?

If I'm in the country in December, I will volunteer.

Respectfully,

Excellent job guys!

I tried to do something like this for Mulcamp several years ago and "never got it off the ground". Maybe it is time to try it again?

Mulecamp is  the SE Regional SASS event and is  put on by the Mulecamp Cowboys. It is in Covington Georgia  and will be held over the  Memorial Day weekend.

CF:

Yup!  I recollect when you were trying to recruit for that event.  :o  Never did ever hear how it came out.

We have marched in the Colors in at the Hell On Wheels SASS Regional at Cheynne since 2001(?).  And also several western state SASS matches, too.  ???

The GAF made such an impact at the 2007 SASS Convention that we were immediately asked that night to do the Color Guard again next year.  I received a number of very positive comments at the SASS Convention, and there were a number of equally postive comments posted on the SASS Wire.  That we made the front page of the Chronicle seems to bear out how much our contribution was appreciated.

Ellsworth T. Kincaid is in charge of the convention banquet next year, same as this year, and we have been discussing how we can top our performance from this year.

Next year we'd like to have at least a dozen on the Color Guard, so if anyone would like to participate, let me know.

As for recruits, so far we've gained at least 3.  There may have been some others but they haven't identified themselves as joining GAF after seeing the Color Guard.

Maybe not a big deal, but in both the photo caption and in the article, the GAF is referred to as "the SASS Grand Army of the Frontier".  I gives the impression that the GAF is an internal part of SASS, rather than an independent organization, made up of members from SASS, NCOWS, W3G, as well as those without membership in any CAS organization.  It sounds as though everyone was quiite impressed with the pride and professionalism shown by our fellow members making up the color guard.  Well done to all who participated!

I haven't seen the article myself though I provided the names of those who were in the Color Guard, along with their SASS numbers, so the author may have assumed we were part of SASS.
