My thermometer is stuck, again. Lyman, you listnin'??

My second Lyman casting thermometer is stuck at 800 degrees.  It's the second Lyman thermometer that's gone bad on me.  I'll contact Lyman and they will probably send me a Third one.  Their customer service is fine, it's just that I keep getting the bad thermometers. . . Or do others have problems with lyman casting thermometers?

Read a bunch of posts years ago on the quality of thermometer's & got a tel tru goes to 1000 deg. Never had a problem & they wernt mutch more than a lyman. Cant remember were I got It but its been a goodin.

My thermometor got stuck at -31 F Saturday last.  If you took your thermometor out in that it probably is stuck for good.

I went on the Lyman web site and wrote to them about my problem.

"My casting thermometer is stuck at around 800 degrees.  This is the Second one that's happened to.  Am I doing something wrong?  Anyway, I'd like to return it and maybe you can fix it.  Thanks,  Dick Rhody".

I'll watch for a return and report what they say.

The trick seems to be getting the hot cap gun caps to put in it.

No word from Lyman yet.  I'll call 'em again Monday.  I'll give their customer service a grade on a scale of 1 to 10.  I think I'll advise them of this thread. . .

This morning I talked to Lyman again.  Actually a very helpful young lady.  Lyman is sending me a new thermometer.  I'm thinkn' the last contact got lost in the blizzard.

Anyway, Lyman customer service is still tops.

   Well I'm not crazy about Lyman.   The handle on my #55 powder measure broke off so I took it apart and sent them the broken handle, figuring they might send me a new one gratis.   They sold me one for $40! For another $25 I could have gotten the whole thing.   If it breaks again I'm gonna have somebody weld a chunk of steel on it.

Lyman sent me a new thermometer.  Got it yesterday.  No charge, no fuss, no questions.  I'm going to take the broken one from together and see if I can fix it.
