Why I Love My New Toyota Tundra

I bought a new Toyota Tundra SR5 Double Cab and had to return to the dealership the next day because I couldn't get the radio to work. The salesman explained that the radio was voice activated. "Nelson," the salesman said to the radio. The radio replied,"Ricky or Willie?"  "Willie!" he continued and "On The Road Again" started playing from the speakers. Then he said, "Ray Charles!", and in an instant " Georgia On My Mind" replaced Willie Nelson.
I drove away happy, and for the next few days, every time I'd say, "Beethoven," I'd get beautiful classical music, and if I said, "Beatles," I'd get one of their awesome songs from the '60s.  :o :o

Yesterday, some jerk ran a red light and almost smashed into my new Tundra, but I swerved in time to avoid him. I yelled, "You idiot!"  :-X

Immediately the French National Anthem began to play, sung by Jane Fonda, Barbara Streisand, and The Dixie Chicks, with John Kerry, backed up by Michael Moore on guitar, Al Gore on drums, Dan Rather on harmonica, Nancy Pelosi on tambourine, Walter Cronkite on spoons, Bill Clinton on sax and Ted Kennedy on Scotch.  :P

Boy, I love my Toyota!

Hi Red,

Well, my Toyota Tundra is parked right next to my Ford F-250, and they kinda look good together.

FYI   Made by American workers at a plant in America.  If Two Flints didnt buy his Tundra, then some Americans might not have a job.  Way to go Two Flints.  Drive your car and talk to it with pride.   ;D

Deadeye,

Thanks for the support.  I didn't want to say that according to the VIN# of my Toyota Tundra SR5 Double Cab, it was manufactured in Minnesota and the final assembly point was in Indiana. I wasn't trying to offend anyone, really. :-\

I certainly wasn't trying to start a ruckus with anyone.  Our economy "is what it is".  In CAS how many firearms are actually made overseas?  Even our beloved Spencer is a repro.  (Of course, that doesn't include the original or Romano Spencers) Go into any Sears Department Store and check our the names on the goods being sold...not too many American Companies...and if an American Company name is on the label, chances are the parts came from overseas.

Forget "made in USA... I buy for resale value, and that happens to be anything foreign...

Example:

Buy a 2008 Honda, and an equivalent 2008 Chevy..

The Honda Holds it's value , the Chevy breaks down..

When the USA makers produce a vehicle that holds its value and does not break all the time, I will take one

When is the last time you bought a GM product?   My 94, 2500 pkup  is still going strong with over 125,000 miles on it nothing but normal maintenance and a starter.   My sister's Toyota has had many more problems with less miles and is much newer.

I think the best vehicles ever built are being built now.  I will say that the quality of the Japanese products is what forced that American manufacturers to improve.

Deisel price is 3.50 gal here in southern New Mexico, reg unleaded $3.05 gal.  If you can get to one of the discount stations like Flying J, Valero, or Shamrock, diesel is 3.05 gal. and gas is 2.80.

can't resist adding my 2 cents worth. my wife drives a '97 jeep grand cherokee with the dodge 360 throttle body f.i. system. read somewheres that this vehicle is the fastest stocker in its class on the 1/4 mile. with the quadra-track constant four wheel drive there is little wheel spin and it flies. gets 17 mpg on the highway. not bad for a non-diesel truck. bought used so the money stayed in the local economy. my car is a '99 macadamillac with the northstar v-8. gets 18 mpg around town. sometimes i wonder why the american auto industry is in such trouble. geo.

Don't get inta the debate no more, Ain't no point in it.

Got money, plenty of it but I don't gamble with the prices of cars 'n trucks. GM 'n Ford both, thru their products 'n service, told me they didn't want my business anymore.

My wife couldn't be happier with her Solara, her second Toyota. My oldest daughter has two kids, loves her Sienna. She had a Corolla. Her husband is savin' his pennys for the day he can trade his '99 F-150 for a Tundra. His brother dumped an Escape for a Highlander. Youngest daughter has a Civic, she's a renegade. Her significant other has a 2 door Explorer, a Mazda, 'n he ain't real thrilled. I'm on my second Tacoma. Nothin' wrong with the first one. Just wanted the one I have now.

Several folks I know face to face have gone Toyota. I can name some who are active members of this board. Ain't heard no complaints.

All the Toyotas, and the Honda, were made here. The workers on the line were paid in US dollars. They spend it for goods and services in their towns. In Norfolk, the Ford plant closed in July. Many are unemployed.

Toyota is in an almost dead heat with GM now. There's a reason for that. I guess the bottom line is, if you can find a better vehicle, buy it. It's your money.

Flints, sorry ta bust in with this on yer Spencer board.

Arcey,

I have no problem with your post.  When I started this thread it was really meant as a Conservative look on politics  >:( and how  I felt about the primaries going on :P :P didn't think it would become a USA vs Toyota 'shoot out'.  Guess I'm just unhappy with the politics of the day and tried to put a "funny" spin on my feelings ??? ???

All people who buy Japanese cars seem to console themselves with the same rhetoric; "made in America, American workers, blah, blah, blah." Someday Americans may wake up and realize why American car makers are going out of business, but I doubt it.

Pard I don't need to console myself or justify to anyone why I drive a Toyota Tundra.  This is the land of the free, free to choose to buy what ever brand of item we want.  Americans are not stupid.  They are going to put their money where the quality and value are.  American car makers are having trouble competing with the "Japanese" because the quality and value of their products have declined over the past several years.  I have owned Fords, Chevys, Dodges.  The ones I had 25-30 years ago were great.  The ones I have had in the last 10-15 years, well if they were as good I wouldn't be driving a Toyota.  NO ONE can question my patriotism or love of this country.  I dedicated 22 years of my life to defending it and protecting OUR right to choose.
