Whats up with Hidecrafters?

Been trying to get someone in Tx for the last week, and all I get is the machine! Trying to order my Maker stamps, and some other stuff too. Do they shut down for awhile? DM

Well Marshall, after some discussion last night with Freeda, we decided to let mom buy me a maker stamp and a bullet mold from DD, so now I am only gettin 1 maker stamp for now. That 150gr UG bullet will be nice in my '60! DM

I am thinking about 1 1/2", but am gonna ask how well my design will show up smaller. No smaller than inch for sure. Still havent been able to get ahold of them. Gonna try again monday. DM

Finally got hold of them yesterday. Got a 1" ordered. It will be a metal one, as they discontinued the Delrin ones. Discontinued the alpha/number stamps in the wood box too. Grrr. Oh well.

Little OT, but my Big Lube bullet mold showed up yesterday. Cant wait to start casting some. DM

Will they be the same price? I think when I ordered mine they were talking about the Delrin ones.

I really dont know Pitspitr. The metal ones are slightly less expensive in the catalog. I was hoping for a Delrin one, as they look like they can be pretty detailed. There used to be a guy on Ebay making them out of Delrin, and I think you could get 2 for around 70 bucks. Always thought I would do that, but cant find him now. DM

Outrider, I found that one right after I posted that, and it looks pretty good. I like his templates too for often used patterns. He can also make craftaids custom. Me thinks he will get some of my moolah in the near future.

Dalton,
Have you ordered the one from Hidecrafters yet? If not, order the Grey Ghost first. It's not that I'm so displeased that I'm going to send it back (although I considered it) but it isn't what I ordered. I specifically said to put "Sargent, Nebr." using the old abbreviation so that it would be "old timey" but when it came it is "Sargent NE" Also I asked for the word MAKER to be bold or a larger font and it appears to be the same type as the rest of the wording. Finally was is a flaw just to the side of the word maker that made a big dot. I scraped it off with a knife so its not as visible but it's still there. I'm not sure how the Grey Ghost stamp is made to be used but the Hidecrafter was made to be used with an imprinting machine (which I don't have so I had to put a brass punch in it for a handle) and I was under the impression that it was a hand held stamp. Then there's the matter of the order itself. I ordered it back in November and was told it might not be ready until January. It came today (2-15-08) and the border stamp I ordered at the same time wasn't included. No invoice either so I can't check to see if I was charged for the border stamp.
