Howdy, fellow scribblers.

I have a recommendation:  my daughter gave me a copy of 1001 Ways To Market Your Books (John Kremer, Open Horizons Press, $27.95) for Christmas.  I looked it over and though "well here's another do-it-yourself get-rich-quick bunch of crap."

'Tain't so!

It's a really informative book (so far) filled with a heap of good ideas about how to move the stuff you get published (BTW, congrats to Flint McCloud.  He's taken the last few steps to get his on the market in the next couple of months.  Way to go, Don.) and do a better job than we can probably do without this info.

Now, I've done alright on my own...big shooting matches, crafts fairs, the wire, lotsa relatives, word of mouth, begging and bragging...and just sent out #301 of Legends and #88 of Cavanaugh: The Last Bounty.  That's well above the average for self published / POD books, I'm told.  I have an "international" customer base too, with books in Canada, Australia, Great Britain, Portugal, Germany, Japan, France, Azerbaijan, Iraq, and Afghanistan...maybe a few others, as well.  That took 20 months on Legends, but only 58 days for Cavanaugh.  I'm only 93 pages into this book and have already found a half dozen things that will probably sell more books for me.  The good part is they take some effort (quite a bit) and time (some, but not a lot), and very little money.

See if the local library has a copy or buy your own.

I just got off the phone with the AuthorHouse's (my publisher) Author Assistance Rep (Some of you know Jennifer Cooper) and have arranged for the first steps for book #3, Cavannaugh: West From Appomattox, to be ready for sale about April 1st.  I intend to start a marketting plan well before that and see if I can't move a ton more of this book and the first two, too...toot toooot too...toot too too.  And here's to a tutu, too.   (And I haven't even been drinking.)

Let me know how I can help.

Good luck.
