I was messing around with my digital camera today and got the following shot. I think it is cool, because it captured, unintentionally, two of the loves in my life.

Plants, reloading equipment, I think I see an Elk behind the third plant from the left, and a cat on the right hand side behind the press!   :o

Yep, weeds and reloading.

The weeds are orchids.

Here's an orchid I don't yet have, but I want, for its beauty as well as its common name. It is a phaius tankervillae, also known as a Swamp Lily, and was discovered around 1852, so it is period correct:

And it is also known as...

The Nun's Orchid.

I've thought about that, Del, but those kinds of orchids don't do well in my area.

Also thought about growing castor beans. Bunnies and other small critters don't like castor plants so I could border the garden with them. But, a bulk purchase of castor plants would cause some Federal eyebrows to rise, and not just because of the purging effect of castor oil. Can you guess why?

<Laughing> Yep, it's an ammo garden, Lou, great way of putting it!

Great idea, JW, but the ex is still around and walking.

Well the seeds themselves are posionous.  I believe it is cyanide that they contain. :o

BONK!!

Castor extract is the primary ingredient of ricin. That's bad news stuff. That's the stuff that was used in the Japanese subway.

Good try, though!

<Pats JW to calm him down>

It's okie, JW, there were no cats or elks in the picture and none of us are growing that bad stuff. It's just a garden of ammo.

I fergot that castor "beans" ain't really a legume,  it is of the spurge family.   The seeds of legumes contain cyanide, not enough in most to harm you though, or at least the varieties that we commonly eat.   However eatin' to many legumes can harm those around you. ;)  But it is not cyanide, it's methane that is the problem.   ;D ;D ;D :P
