She's pretty handy with a 9mm, from what OT told me.

I took Lil ta the range that rents out guns ta try.  She's used ta revolvers an bolt or lever rifles.  There was a nice Sig 9mm in the case an I asked her if she wanted ta give it a spin.  She was pensive at first, but after I 'splained most of the recoil was absorbed by the action cockin it's self, she gave it a whirl.  Love at first shot fer her.  She run out a 50 round box and wanted more.  Have ta budget one in fer her soon, it was the happiest I ever seen her with a firearm.

Fergot where I was fer a second.  Gotta go haggle with the locals an get this boat stocked afore liberty is over.  Think I'll start over at the munitions depot...

Just curious OT, what part of CA was Jackie from?  Sounds mighty familiar ta me.

Leo

She grew up around Hanford, as she says lots of little dirt towns around there.

we didn't have no Mexicans to talk to  (or about)  when I was growing up,  all I'm fluent in is English & Ebonics  course I ain't used the ebonics in the last 10 years, it's getting hard to understand it now.

I guess  all I need to be able to speak is Okie and Arkie,  pretty close, just the Arkie's talk more about forrests and mountains. ;D

A lot of them settled around Bakersfield. They grow wheat, maize, and cotton and the irrigate a lot. It's real flat out there. It almost looks like TX or OKLA.

Great Uncle Ellis learned heavy equipment in the Army in WWI, there were jobs in the oilfields for equipment operators, the ones who left Oklahoma were mostly farmers who got blowed out.

My Dad was born in Texhoma and my Grandad ran an elevator there.  The "Dust Bowl" hit them hard.  My G Grandmother lived in Texhoma until her 90's, then she moved to Dumas to stay with us until she passed away. She was still livin' in Texhoma while I was at Panhandle State. I guess I still gotta lot of OKIE in me.

ya know the Dust Bowl didn't hit my folks too hard,  they were up in Wagoner Co. Oklahoma,  grandpa farmed the local John Deere Dealers farm and they had several acres of good bottom ground right along the Arkansas river,  They were able to grow a few crops that made kinda early in the season.  they raised almost 400 acres of potato's during those years and Dad said they had a good crop every year.
Grandma always talked about the dust bowl and the depression and would tell the story about them buying a new car during that time,

My Dad would have been in his early teens about then.  My GGrandad ran a Livery and had teams of horses and mules. He was a big man with a booming voice. My dad told me my GGrandad would announce at the rodeos with a megaphone.

The ones that are at Corpus Christi have been there since 1992 .  They were built in Spain to commemorate the 500th anniversary of Columbus' sailing to the New World.  They are in dry dock at Corpus Christi and are in total disrepair.

Might be worth fixin' up though, considerin' the price of fuel, everyone knows the Spaniards could get thousands of mile to the galleon. ;D
