Taurus Gaucho

 I just got a pair of Gauchos in 45lc and guess what? To cut costs Taurus is no longer using Wolff springs for that out of the box smoothness that helped them sell so well when they were first released.  I felt a little dismayed that they would do that to their customers, the first time I cocked them I knew something was up.  Well I ordered a Lee gunslinger kit from Brownells and I'm of to the races.
Next I decided that these were going to be my pistols for my black powder fun, they were way to tight of tolerances three rounds and the one binded up the other faired just a little better.  they are at the shop now having the cylinder gap widened a little, that should fix it.
Also, despite the rumors Gauchos remain in current production and Taurus has no plan to discontinue the line. What the Rep. did tell me is that while they have not been discontinued they don't make a lot of them due to the Cowboy Action market being a small portion of the gun market.

Hey John,
While awaiting my permits to arrive I took a trip to a local gun shop today to see what they had for sale.
They had a used Gaucho, one with the SS Matte finish in 45 Colt, 5.5 inch barrel I believe.

Any thing I should look for when I get a hands on inspection?

If your remove the grips you can check if it has the wolff mainspring it will have an enlongated cut down the middle of the spring, if its a newer one it will have a standard mainspring.
