The Grand Army of the Frontier hit a major milestone today with the enlistment of two new members that put us at the 500 member mark.

The GAF was founded several years ago to serve as a focal point to share information between those in CAS who perferred to identify with the military instead of the cattle range.  It wasn't long before we began to find reeanctors and living historians, NSSA skirmishers, amateur historians, and a variety of other people who were interested in the American frontier following the Civil War.  At the same time we started expanding beyond the US territorial boundaries as members expressed an interest in British colonial wars, and yet newer members from other nations began to share with us their knowledge of their own national 19th century militaries.

Since our beginning we have emerged from being just an information sharing forum to holding our own unique shooting matches - the Grand Musters and even a Departmental Muster or two, providing color guards to regional NCOWS and SASS matches.  Our members have not only shared their knowledge among each other, but with others in SASS and NCOWS, and at various living history and reenactment venues.

Congratulations to all within the GAF who have gone out and promoted our organization, recruited new members, and provided their time, energy, skills, and resources to making the GAF the great organization that it has become.

WELL DONE to all, and especially to Steel Horse Bailey who recruited our 500th member.
