Ok, so it's not a proper ranch with long horn cows and such, but it's my spread.  It falls away on three sides to "100 year" flood plain and no one can build around me for a mile or so.  It's my lil piece of heaven and I'm pullin' up the ladder.  We had only one flood this year and my ranch house stayed high and dry.  We usually have "lake front" property two or three times a year.

Anyway, I'm calling it "Meadows Edge".  I was thinkin' of Skeeter Heaven or sum such, but Meadows Edge seemed to have a nice ring to it.  So, that's what it is.

Whatcha think?

Kinda nice ring to it Dick.

For those times when the water is all around you a good alternate would be Big Lube Landing!  ;D

We don't have any eagles nearby, buy we have a couple of buzzards and cormorants.  I've been shooting the dang cormorants any chance I get.

Saw some deer on the meadow last night.  Bear tried to run 'em off but they took him in circles in a relay till he caught on.

Squirrels on the deck, turkeys on the lawn and pheasants just beyond.  Gets busy around here.

Hey, his name is Bear.  He weighs in at a trim 135 pounds.  We run Five miles Three times a week.  Me on my politically incorrect Honda Big Red Three wheeler and Bear on foot.  Bear is our watch dog.  Sign at the end of the driveway says "Private Property, Do Not Enter, Property Under Continuous Surveillance.  Bear is the Surveillance.

Anyway, he seems to take to us calling our place "Meadows Edge" as long as we can go play together.

He's really quite friendly.

Howdy!

No skeeters in your part of WI----That is fine news!  I thought skeeters were the state bird there.  At least around Camp McCoy!!!  ::)

Super lookin' dog, there, Dick.  Looks like a great Pardner to hit the ranges & fields with!
I best post a pic of Hoss D. Labb soon.  He's weighin' in at 115# & looks a whole lot like your Bear.

We named our place the Double Arrow Ranch (my registered brand is -><-).  We have 285 acres in Nebraska, but still lookin' to buy some more pasture.

The Seminole word Hypoluxo means "Water all around"... just as a by the way....

"Meadows Edge" is catchy and the Creek word  it's Lantana  ;) ( literal translation anyway )

Betcha ol' Bear enjoys it getting busy around there.  I used to have a "Bear", too, he was a Blue Heeler, and he'd lay on the deck and watch the deer and all of the other critters on the mountainside, and never get too excited unless they'd get right up next to the fence - had the yard fenced to keep him and his pard from wandering, and to keep the deer off of the deck; had a deer come right up on the deck and stick his head in the back door one time, before I fenced the yard.

My Grandma said she was going to get herself a ranch, and call it "Hellfino"; then, when folks would ask her where she lived, she'd say: "Hellfino!"  :o ;D :D

Water is stiff now.  Skeeters all froze.  Grandkids went back home full of turkey and trimmin's.  Shot Bambi x 2.  Two shots, two deer.  Life is good.

I'm havin' a swingin' sign made up to hang over the driveway.  Says "Meadows Edge".
