Ow, send me some crawdads and some frog legs, maybe some black eyed peas with smoked hog jowls.  Don't put sugar in my iced tea though.   Love Southern food, just not sugar in my tea, can I get it that way down there?

As I get older, I find that somethings are awfully sweet.  I never thought it would happen, but I have actually uttered the dreaded terms that adults sometimes use  "That's too sweet." 

That said... I like my Tea SWEEEEET!  Growing up in Texas, I never had it sweet. You ordered tea and you sweetened it at the table.  It wasn't until I came here to the east coast that I was offered the option: "You wan't that sweet or unsweet, darlin'?"

Now, civilization has come to Texas.  They are offering sweet tea just about everywhere now.  I don't know when it started, I only noticed it for the first time last January.  I usually make it out there every year or year and a half.

Ain't nobody more southern'n 'n me.  I don't do sweet tea.  Shame ta wreck a good tea with sugar.  Can't remember a time when ya went to a restaurant here, ordered tea 'n they didn't ask sweetened or unsweetened.  Reckon 'southern sweet tea' goes along with Black Powder myths.  Drink my coffee black.  Tea straight up.

Theys folks whut just ought ta say it straight out, 'I'd like this with my sugar.'

Could eat my weight in blackeyes or collards.

But that's just me.

Mornin', I'd take some collards and some sort of cured pork cooked with it.  Don't know if it's done down yer way, but I like a dash of vinegar on my greens.  Only coffee I drink with sugar is that Turkish I brew up in camp sometimes, Slim passed on it I believe when he had the chance.  Of course since it is stonger tha Espresso, it might kill you with out it.
