Is it safe to load Magtec Brass 12g on the Lee Load All using Holy Black. Will it do a roll crimp if I switch to paper hulls.

Doing it all by hand at present but would be great to speed up the operation.

I don't think you will be able to do the whole process without modifing the Load All. De- Priming cases for one

Howdy Ned, just entering Geezerhood. . . ;D

Anyway, MEC now makes a Magtech de-priming punch and priming die for their MEC 600 Jr. Mk-V presses.  That's probably the most popular and common shot shell loading press in the world.  If you can find one, you will be able to load your all brass Magtech shells with it and this new MEC kit for Magtech brass shells.  I don't know about the UK, but there are lots of used ones around the Colonys. ;)

MEC made a special one up for me to use on my 20gauge all brass shells and it works like a champ.

I don't close the brass shells on the press, but I do everything else there.  I glue in the overshot card and it seems to hold quite well.

Let me know if I can be of help.

Ned till I get a new "Cave" dug out I have been loading all my empty Mag Tec's by Hand and My Plastics with a Lee Load all...It don't take that long to load a hundred up.  Right up on the kitchen counter,   I have to wait till the "Misses" goes to work to avoid confrontation ;D.

Ned;  I use the LYMAN roll crimp head to roll crimp Federal paper shells.  For plastic, see my thread on the "jam-roll"

I have an RCBS shellholder for 12 gauge.  I use my ordinary centre fire press to de-prime and re-prime.  The rest of the process I do by hand for the magtechs.  The cheapest trick for putting a slight crimp on the magtechs is to use a "reducing fitting" from a plumbing store.  I've not done it myself, but thats what I've read.  I have the complete RCBS 12 ga. die set, but at USD100, i'm not recommending it. It does include a crimp collar for brass shells.

I use my LA II to size, meter the shot, and seat the wad cards with Mag-techs. I deprime, re-prime and measure powder by hand. Doesn't take much longer than doing everything (as on my plastic hulls) by hand.

[/quote] I also except for sizing. Do you find that necessary?

Not when I shoot them in the same gun but sometimes I use different guns and I don't want to have to fight them to get them out during a match. I might not ever have any problems, but I just want to make sure.

I just picked up another 2 boxes (50 shells in all) at Cabelas with a coupon I had laying around.

I have used a Load All for plastic hulls, but, don't find it too useful for brass.

As a side note, I have never had a problem with using the Lee Perfect Powder Measure with either Pyrodex or 777.
