I've never realy though about it, but how much side play is on most Henries?  Mine has enough that the stop, or end of the leaver moves about a 1/4"  Seems kinda slopy to me.  Locks up tight, but I've been thinking of putting a shim on eigther side of the leaver to tighten things up a bit.  Just an idle though.

Thanks.

Just for the fun of it I just went down stairs and checked the lever slop on all my lever guns. The Henry is the sloppiest, slops back and forth a total of about 1/4". My Uberti '73 is a little bit tighter. My 100 year old Winchester 1892 and my 100 year old Marlin 1894 are tighter, only slopping a total of about 1/8" each. Frankly, I wouldn't worry about the slop in the Henry, I don't.
That's bad business! How long do you think I'd stay in operation if it cost me money every time I pulled a job? If he'd pay me that much to stop robbing him, I'd stop robbing him.

Thanks, wasn't realy worried, just don't like slop in any machine, but like a little side play in a revolver I'll get used to it. ;D

I have some slop in my henry, but, alot more in my Win 94AE I got just a few years back.

both are very accurate.

I don't ever realy notice it or think about it much except for cleaning.  I may put a couple of nylatron washers on eigther side just for OCD purpasses. ;D

After reading about the side play ..I just had to get mine out and check her ..Of course it`s only a few months old brass frame..I haven`t shot over 500 rounds through her .........No side play in mine as of yet . Wonder if the steel framed ones get the side play too ?

Mine is a steel frame.

I'm not too concerned, haven't done anything about it yet anyway.

When I say side play movement I'm talking about the very end of the leaver oposite the pivot, a 1/4" movement that far away from the pivot is very minimal.  If there was zero side play the rifle would be nearly imposilbe to operate.  I guess I should call it "wiggle"? ;D

All the Uberti built lever guns have a certain amount of side play.  Some more than others.  An amount of side play is desirable.  If the lever is in fairly solid contact with the Carrier Block Arm, the lever will take the rifle out of time.  If the side play is really excessive, I shim the lever with cut pieces from an automotive type feeler gage set.  I've only worked on one or two that were that bad.
For the most part, the "wiggle" is not an issue.
