Howdy,

I would like to ask anyone know how to remove or replace the saddle bar and ring from the Spencer. Mine is the rifle not carbine and I would like to replace that saddle bar and ring. But my question is how one could secure the hammer side plate onto the stock when the whole saddle bar and ring attachment is removed?

Any suggestions?

If you have a rifle, why would it have a saddle ring bar and ring??? A rifle should have sling swivels.

The Armi Sport rifle has the saddle ring and bar. I'd be interested in hearing suggestions on how to remove it, too.

Wow...Another RARE variation created by Italian lack of attention to detail. ;D ;D ;D

1. Tear down the receiver, Tig weld/fill up the area where the bar mount was machined out.
2. Reshape area smooth.
3. Drill and countersink for original front lock screw.
4. Send receiver, trigger plate, butt plate, barrel bands, and lever ( so they all match ) to Doug Turnbull to be color case hardened.
5. Replace stock and forearm, or patch wood, but it probably would never blend right. Wood could be cut to fit by Dunlap or Romano.
6. Reassemble rifle.

Is there any way we can just do this with duct tape and a hacksaw? ::)

Here's another option if the rattling of the saddle ring bothers you.  I served (that's marlinspike for "wrapped") mine with artificial sinew.  Keeps the darned thing quiet while sneaking up on them pesky whitetails.

I'm a lefty so the saddle ring is an annoyance.  I served it with two layers of the sinew.  That not only eliminates the noise, but it keeps it in place, flat against the stock.  A far sight easieer than cutting the bar off, filling, smoothing, polishing & blueing.

I 'spose you could serve it with duct tape... ;D
Ain't got to where I'm going, but I'm past where I been.
