Just curious?  What camping is available for the muster?  either at the fort or at the match site?  Don't have any stuff for a primitive period correct camp but might try ot rough it with tent.  what are the period correctness requierments for the camping?  is there an area for RV's and the like?

Thanks

"Period Correct" is not a requirement for anything in the GAF.  We llike to see it, but how far you go is up to you.  You can camp any way you want.  I personaly use a pop up trailer.  But for this Muster, why don't you simply as Pitspitr for a bunk in the barracks.  I believe there's several left.

Actually, Bow View already has and his name is on the list.

The preliminary round count looks like this:

104 Rifle
56 Pistol
4 Shotgun (provided)

(Shooter will want to bring extra ammunition as some targets REQUIRE hits and misses are not an option)

This is only a preliminary count as I am waiting on one stage from another stage writer and the count I have reflects the stage I wrote as a back up for that stage.

I'm thinkin' some 100 yd. plinkin' rounds might be in order here!  I may be in the same situation as Major Matt.

Anyone got any safe, reduced loads (BP of course!) for the 45-70?  I'm thinkin' along the lines of my 250 gr RNFP pushed by around 40/45 grs of 2f or 3f.  I'll need a filler, I guess - I've never loaded a "light load" in BP!

Suggestions?  (And yes, I'll be posting this on the Darksider's Den as well.)  ;)

Is there any official registration forms out yet?  Do ou know what the cost to shoot will be?  Maybe this has all been covered here but I didn't see anything on the GAF website other than the dates and the map.

Thanks

Major - As for the expense .... both "fiscal" and "physical" .... just be thankful you're shooting that "wimpy" little Yankee military cartridge, rather than its British Empire equivalents of the era .... i.e. either .577 Snider-Enfield or .577/.450 Martini-Henry .....

Registration is finnally set at $90. I realize this is a little higher than last year but also includes all meals AND accomadations in the Barracks. In the long run most shooters will save almost $300 dollars since they don't have to buy motel rooms.

The final round count is:
96 Rifle
61 Pistol
4 Shotgun (provided)
(Shooter will want to bring extra ammunition as some targets REQUIRE hits and misses are not an option)

Side matches will be on Friday and will be: Long Range Rifle, Long Range Handgun, and a Wildbunch Stage. If we have time and interest we can also have the Postal Match qualification.

We have the stages and the shooters book all written. The medals are purchased and engraved. The cooks, the range, the barracks and the band are all reserved. We hope to have the registration form on line by the end of next week. In the mean time if you are in a big hurry to get registrations sent in my address is at left.

Well, I'm in!

What's the typical range for the rifle targets?  I THINK I remember something about 100 yds and less as well as for the "Long Range" targets?

It's less than 100 days away!  We're into the "two digit midget" classification.

Have been meaning to contact Bvt.Col. Pitspitr to enquire about certain "facilities" available to those of us who will be staying in the Barracks, and might as well ask here for the benefit of all ....

What facilities are available for "answering the call of nature" during the night  -  i.e. "in house", "outhouse", other?  Also, on a related note, may I put in for a bunk assignment near the door or other access to such facilities?
::)  (I ask because, unfortunately, I occasionally experience the "call" several times during the night, and it would be less disturbing to my Barracksmates .....)

Are there shower facilities or the like on site?

(My apologies if you have already addressed these issues in previous postings ....)
