Mama always made me take my hat off in the house, but she sure made some cool shirts for me. ;)

Nice pics all, thanks for sharing!
J.D., is that a Conductor's hat your Grandpa is wearing? If so, what was the family connection? Sure looks like one with the badge/emblem just visible. And your dear Dad, an interesting 'crease' in his hat, sure do love those chaps!
Best regards and good viewing!

Careful some "Virus Shooter" don't decide to bash SASS cause they don't like it. ;D

Perhaps our new motto should be "Virus Shooters Kill Shooting SportsFrom Within." ;)

NO RUDENESS ALLOWED!! Well, since we're showing ourselves at our earliest here are 2 pics together.  Both are me helping Dad fend off any bad guys - and pro'lly using smokeyless powder.  :D (note my early preference for the Military-style flap holster)

I haven't run into any SERIOUSLY rude smokeyless shooters, but there have been some borderline types.  I've also been around some BP shooters who also try to push BP as the "only" powder proper to use, and who take the phrase "the Holy Black" a bit too seriously, IMHO.  To ME - and please understand, it is JUST me; I don't care if YOU say it - the use of the word "Holy" is reserved for Jesus or God - not Black Powder.  But I DO think that BP is the way to go - Cowboy wise, and prefer it for my CAS shooting, whenever I can.  I'm like Del, I wouldn't use BP in my AR or my Glock.  There's a time and place fer everything!  Being "clannish" 'bout one powder or another is really detrimental to our sport!  And it IS for fun, after all!  And yes, I DO read my Blue Press religiously.  And admire the photography of the lovely ... uh, equipment.  ;)  And my wife doesn't mind, either.  (If you don't know, the Blue Press is the monthly catalog from Dillon - all their equipment is blue, hence the name.  And the cover features some nifty weapon ... and a nifty young thing handling that nifty weapon.  Tastefully, of course.) http://www.dillonprecision.com/#/Calendars_and_Posters-8-12.html  They also sell calenders featuring the same ladies as on their catalogs.

Only complaints I've heard about my BP loads have been  "Needs more powder", followed by "You're takin' the bark off the trees with the muzzle blast".
I also must have been a member of that posse.  Do caps count as BP?

Howdy, Gabe.

I don't know that we had any connection to trains, except for a few robberies (we are related to the James family).  But my great grandpa dabbled in many things, allegedly making and losing 3 fortunes.  I have a picture of him on a caboose with Teddy Roosevelt when the latter was stumpin' through the south.  It was a bit of a scandal, actually, since everyone down there was southern democrats, back when that meant something different than today.  But TR was special, so he got a lot of votes from dixie.

One thing I noticed about the hats--each generation the brims got wider.  Wonder what that means?

Can't find the pics of me in my regalia on top of the wooden horse, but this is the earliest pic I could find of me in the Navy. Sitting in the boat with big bro.

For you who've eaten in my cook camp, you know I mix my bread dough in enemal-ware dish pans.  One of them was my Grandma's.  The Food Channel has the Naked Chef, I present The Naked Cosie. ;D

One of my first encounters with a wood cooking fire though was not a happy expeience, kids don't play with Grandma's woodstove. ::)

Of course many will say I'm still a basket case. ;D

This is fun, don't ya feel sorry for folks who never learned to have fun and spend their whole lives so worried about what someone else does for fun, "I don't shoot black powder, you shouldn't either."  "I shoot only black powder and you should too."  Funny thing is we'd all be better off if those kind didn't shoot at all with that mind set. ;)

I'm with you, Del.  I couldn't care less what someone else shoots fer fun.  I was at the local range yesterday workin' on some 45-70 loads, and pretty often I'd look up and see a couple of shooters and an RO or two watchin' and grinnin'.  Then, while I was letting the barrel cool down, I'd wander over to watch a couple of young guys shootin' AK's like madmen, shells flyin' everywhere.  It was all fun.

One of the RO's said to me, "That sure is a loud rifle!"  I said "what?"  He said, "that's a loud rifle!"  "What?"

The folks who worry to much about what the other person does ruins their fun. (I could care less about that.)  But most important they can ruin everyone else's fun.  (This should be considered a crime.)  As long as you're safe and are following the rules of the game being played if it is a formal game, then no one else needs to stick their nose into. ::)

The phone's ringin'

What? ...

Loud is beautiful ... if it's clean.  That used to be the motto of a speaker company named Cerwin-Vega - they wuzzn't talkin' 'bout "clean" smokeyless vs. "dirty", 'tho.

If yer talkin' shootin', dirty OR clean is be-you-ti-full!
