QuoteAgain for the sake of community and harmony, I returned to the new, faddish powder...

??? Why? I just simply say "what did they shoot in the REAL Old West?" If anyone counters then I tell 'em I'm not a "Coca Cola Cowboy" and maybe they had better get in the wagon with the women & children in case of a real gunfight.  :D ;)

I was regulated to a BP & sub's only posse once, at a shoot upstate. I didn't feel at the time it was discrimination , until my friend ,who invited me, and shot on another smokeless posse, told me the Gamers did not want to be slowed my the C&B loaders.
Actually, as I recall there was only one guy with a pair of C&B ( Brass framed Sheriffs models & a Henry ) the other 6 of us had BP or Sub's
in Cartridge.

Last month I was tending the unloading table at a match up in PA.  From the soot and discoloration on this one shooters brass I wondered what he was shooting.  I asked him if he were shooting Black Powder, as most of us were on this particular posse.  That led to a lecture on how crazy we black powder shooters were and how he would never use it nor would he even allow it in his home. ??? :(

I realized at that point that there was no use arguing the point with this individual, so all I said was "Thank You." and left it at that.

He continued to vent about black powder shooters as he emptied his revolvers and them stormed off. :o

I probably should have asked him what loads he was shooting rather than assuming he was shooting the Holy Black. >:(

Anyone else ever been lambasted for shooting BP or Subs?

It was my experience that anyone messing with WOPA was soon stationed to a 5 man weather station in North Africa.
When's he leaving?

I've never encountered rude behaviour from smokeless shooters for shooting BP, but I have encountered rude behaviour from so-called BP shooters :o.

I attended the SASS midwest regional a couple of years ago, and there were two so-called BP shooters on my posse shooting in the BP categories.  At that match I was shooting in the Classic Cowboy category (I now just shoot in traditional).

I was shooting my 5-1/2" Ruger .45 Colt Vaqueros at the time, with a 250 grain bullet over a full case of 2F BP.  This one (so-called) BP shooter tried to tell me that I was shooting an illegal load >:(. (anyone familiar with BP cartridges would know that would be impossible under the circumstances).  The other (so-called) BP shooter was the posse marshall and he had me shoot dead last on every stage ???.  It seems that these guys didn't want to have to contend with my smoke :o.  The range and weather combined to be perfect for shooting BP, the smoke seemed to hang forever (if a shooter really made any smoke that is ;))

The fellow who complained about my loads being too powerful was one of them who made a big production out of cleaning his guns after every stage, and wanted everyone to be sure and let him know if the Shotgun targets were down. ::) (it was easy enough to tell ;), there sure wasn't any smoke obscurring the targets)

Oh well, to each his own ::).

I've never encountered rude behaviour from the true smokeless crowd yet.

Well dang it Arcey, you ain't 'spossed to have fun, or at least that's what a lot of folks seem to think, both Black and Nitro shooters. ;)

BTW any real cowboy I ever met thinks the CAS stuff is kinda neat, some do it, some don't, fact is I helped one of them with a Silver Screen Cowboy outfit, cause, well as he said, he was a kid once also and never grew up. ;)

Not much of a real cowboy, not even a wannabe-cowboy.  Just too lazy.  Therefore, I choose the moniker "Barroom Cowboy". ;D   I just like shooting guns, drinking beer and eating beef. (not all at once...)

I shoot smokeless, but I'm slowly getting into black powder because it is just so much cooler!.  I have never even considered saying anything of the likes about someone's shooting preference.  Truly a shame, because I didn't think that a cloud smoke was enough to work up a person's ire. ::)

It all boils down to, the fact that who gives a damn what you shoot.  If you shoot black powder and look down your nose at the guy who shoots Nitro or vice versa, you simply not only have a problem, but even worse you are a big problem.  Same goes if you only shoot "Cowboy Guns" and look down at your nose at the guy who likes AR-15 or vice versa, you are a problem.

Wake up folks, as long as we follow the rules of the group we shoot with, are safe, then so what.  To do otherwise is to be a worse enemy of all shooters, than Teddy, Sarah, Hillary or anyone else you can name.  That is external, easier to fight something from the outside than something on the inside.

In fact maybe we just need to think of those shooters who look down on other shooters who shoot different ammo or different kinds of guns, not as friends and shooters, but a virus as bad as one in your body or in your computer.  Maybe we should simply call the "Virus Shooters" to be able to tell the good guys and gals from the rotten ones.  Everyone needs to pull their head out of their arse on this one. >:(

In case anyone is curious I shoot both Back and Nitro, as much as I like Black there are tasks it is not suitable for.  Black is for fun, Nitro is for more serious tasks.

I haven't received any rude remarks from any Nitro shooters. I receive questions from fellow shooters occasionally about my loads and shooting BP.
