Yessiree.. Born and bred for six generations down here.
I've been to Banff once on a ski trip.  Incredible country and nice folks.

Great cabin.. I really like the simplicity of the picture system on this board.
Adios,

The Editor

Howdy, Will -- Happy to join you. One correction: NCOWS' Web site is www.ncows.org. (The old SwiftSite address will still get you there, I think.)

Hey, Nine Toe -- I could be called Nine-Finger, but my mishap wasn't nearly as romantic as yours (had an argument with a radial arm saw & lost). I tell the grandkids that I had it bitten off in a fight to the death with the dreaded miniature Iowa grizzly bear -- and I can show them its jawbone which I used as a knife handle.

Dutch Limbach

I seem to have detected the word "moonshine" on your picture ninetoejim. It is not only one of my favorite words, it IS my favorite beverage!

Hey Will, thanks for the invite to join the party here at CAS City.

Will: I live in Manitoba and we only have a couple of fledgling CAS clubs struggleing to get going here. Alberta has a couple of very active clubs with lots of SASS members but to date I don't think any are SASS sanctioned. Most of us in Western Canada belong to the Western Candian Frontier Shooting Society which is SASS sanctioned but so far NCOWS hasn't made an appearance yet.

Big Hext: The Cabin is on our range & western town near Kelsey, Alberta we have a saloon too along with other buildings such as bunkhouses.

The Editor: There is no way I can top your story haha

Dutch: That's my son with me in the pic. His Alias is Moonshine McSwine after a fondness he used to have for the stuff. Alas he is now married and almost settled down but he still shoots. And can be persuaded to test the moonshine once in a while

Wow this 'new & improved' CAS City makes the one from 5 years ago seem like CASville  ;D I can see I'll be wastin' a lot of time just figurin' out what all these buttons do. Who knows what evil lurks in the hearts of men ??? The Shadow Do :o  I'll be Back

Great web-site, Nine Toes.  A guy could spend hours just wanderin around in it.  How long did it take you to put your uniform together?

Thanks, Sedona

I've been researching and working on the uniform for about 10 years now. It's slow going but I've finally put a couple of them together. There were a lot of varieties since 1873. The one in the picture on my websied is circa the late 1870's. I have one that's closer to the turn of the century too.

Where you able to purchase everything or did you have to some of it made?

The tunic is a modern day red serge that I had altered. A few years ago there was a fellow in Canada that sold replica braid and buttons along with Victorian insignia and I was able to pick up enough to do a couple of uniforms for my son and I. The helmet can still be bought and the pants are the dress trousers of the present day RCMP that havent changed since the 1800's . If you watch ebay you can pick up the spurs and congress boots they wore with the dress trousers. There are a number of reference books out you can find on the net. The NWMP field uniform was a variety of odds and ends. I even have a pic of one constable in wooly chaps.
The picture is of me in one of my field outfits

If you haven't won a best outfit award yet, it's just a matter of time, you look great!  Hey Nine Toe Jim, speaking of attaching pics, maybe you could help me out with something.  I've treid to do it and it doesn't attach.  Heres what I'm doing, see if you can spot anything wrong.
1) click on additional options and hit the browse button.
2)  my documents an pics window opens , I select one and can see the file location open in the browse button window.
3) Close my documents window and click preview.
4)  wait a minute while it seems to be loading but when the preview window opens, there's no picture or attachment symbol.

I'm trying to up-load jpeg of less then the max 128 kbits.
??? jpeg is the same as jpg isn't it?  Got any ideas?

Nine Toe Jim

Well I did the same as you. When I checked the pic I was going to send it said it was only 113kb. When I sent it it didn't go. I reduced the pic to about 60kb and you saw the results.

I have won the best dressed military a number of times but lost a couple of years ago because they said it was a police uniform not a military one. The Northwest Mounted Police actually filled both jobs on the Canadian Plains. The actually were going to name them the Mounted Rifles like a miiltary group but went for the mounte Police instead

I use a photgraph program called Photoshop LE. But usually you get a photo program with a scanner or a digital camera. There is usually some feature on the programs to change the fomat of a photo to jpeg and also to reduce it in size
