fellow pistoleros:

I have been makeing a few sets of grips for my NM vaquero. Plan to make a few sets from cocobolo in the next few weeks.

my question:

where to get escutheons?

I have seen the ones from brownel's and will use them if there are no other choices. I am following the directions from this web site

www.chipengelmann.com/Grips.html

and I like to look of the ones in the write-up. where to get them?

Marshal Will Wingam

The ones available from Brownells are the only ones I know about. I bought a few and they are good ones.

Dixie used to sell these also. Probably still do.

I've started making grips for sale.  Out of briar, same stuff as is used for smoking pipes.  The grain is outstanding!

Anyway, I'm using these from brownells.  http://www.brownells.com/aspx/NS/store/ProductDetail.aspx?p=388&title=ESCUTCHEON+SCREWS

Do you have any pics of those grips?

I'm with you, Marshal Will!  Briar wood grips sound really cool!  I'd love to see some.

Wow, Doc, those are beautiful. I particularly like the blasted finish. Good work. I'll keep an eye on your site to see what new models you add to your line.

Thanks for the link.

Thanks!  That's it for new models for a while.  I am planning to start on some more rusticated grips today. I'd like to get more offered for sale.  Colt/Clone grips are going to be made to order.  There isn't much consistency between guns and they need to be fit to the frame.

Oh, I finally set up a domain dedicated to the grips.  http://www.jsgrips.com  Update bookmarks!

Marshal Will Wingam

Good to have the dedicated site for the grips, Doc. The chisels you use for the rusticated finish do a good finish. I can't imagine what they are, but that doesn't matter. Good work, pard.

Thanks Marshal.  Just posted up another 2 pair.  These are matching, would go well on a brace of match guns  ;).

Marshal Will Wingam

I love the grain in those. Looks good.
