One cannot have enough 1860s (cited) but there are not many to be seen on the screen. Which of our cowboy stars and want to be stars carried an 1860?
I'll start: wasn't a 1860 Clint's primary handgun in THE OUTLAW JOSEY WALES?

I think 'Marston' (sp,,the evil ranchowner) in Quigley used a '60Army. Wasn't that also what they provide Quigley with for the 'shootout ?'

In any event, your right, one can never have too many.

As far as 'conversions'...In Pale Rider the evil 'lawmen' were totin' some conversions, but I couldn't get good 'nuff look to see if they were Armys or Navys, but I 'think' I saw a couple Army conversions....

Ain't seen Sephrim Falls but aren't the actors in that carrying cap and ball revolvers ?

Ride with the Devil has a few '60Armys.

Very intersting question Long John,,,im interested in hearing the forthcomming knowledge on this'un,,,,,

Cold Mountain stars Jude Law, Nicole Kidman and Renee Zellweger. Jude Law appears to be using a LeMat when he is in the Confederate Army and an 1860 Army as he tries to get home to see his girl. (Nicole Kidman). I don't remember what type of c & b the bad guys used.

Marston had 1851 Navies In Quigley Down under. The Aussie with the Tam had a 1851 Navy Sheriff's model in the white with Ivory(Faux?) grips. Need to watch it again to see for sure who had what after these two.

" This isnt Dodge City and you arent Bill Hickock"       They looked like 51 Navies to be also, which is one of the reasons Tom may have made that comment.  I would have to watch it again to be sure and freeze frame some of the action.

Adam on Bonanza carried a 1860 in the early shows.

And lil Joe carried a Navy.

Actually I think Eastwoods primary revolvers were a pair of Walkers.  There were also several conversions in Outlaw Josey Wales.  The conversion Eastwood was using when he was practicing after the redlegs attacked his homestead looked to be about .44, so it appears to be based on the Army.  I'm gonna have to watch Outlaw Josey Wales again and see if he carries any Armies.  Bummer.  ;D    I do remember one Colt pocket pistol that he carried.

I always thought the revolvers the "Lawmen" were using in Pale Rider were 1860 Armies.  I may have to get a copy of Pale Rider to check that out.   I haven't seen the movie in awhile.

I agree you can never have too many.  I have three 1860 Armies.  I can always use another.

Offhand, I believe Josey Wales carried a pair of Walkers in holsters and an 1860 tucked in his belt. Also had a (1849?) pocket model in a shoulder rig. Also, I recall Marston's pistols as 1860s. Lots of 1860's in Pale Rider.

Got a few myself ;D

Howdy all,
Marston at one time in the movie refers to the pistols as Army revolvers, possibly when he and Quigley are eating dinner in the house early in the movie. The pistol they gave Quigley had a round barrel not an octgonal. Coulda' been a '61 if it's a Navy but I believe it to be an Army.

I believe Gus used '60s from pommel holsters when he rode into the comanchero camp blazing away in Lonesome Dove.

Take care.

Howdy! I recently watched the OutLaw Josy Wales and at the beginning of the movie after Red Legs has killed his family and he goes into the rubble to find his revolver. What does he pull out of the holster, but a Richards 60' Army Conversion, which is interesting, because unless the Civil War has been over for 7 years, he shouldn't have one, but thats Hollywood. Wild Ben,

I don't expect much from Hollywood. They're after the affect more than anything else and lets face it, we are a hard bunch to make happy.  We know something about the period and the guns of the period.

However, it took me awhile to catch the conversions in the movie and I have watched it several times.  I didn't catch the conversions until I learned something about them.  Now all I need to do is get one. ;D  Any will do.

The May/June issue of Shoot Magazine has an article called "Whistle Dixie! - Clint Eastwood's Sixguns". There's a lot of good info on his guns.

Pale Rider .... The late John Russell and his deputies all carry 1860's
So does LaHood's son and hired thugs...
Eastwood has a Remington conversion & 31 Cal. pocket pistol.

I think Eastwood also carries a New Model Police or equivalent along with the two mentioned above. In the scene where he is in the cabin cleaning the guns he has the 36 Cal(maybe 38 Conversion) in his hand. It is bigger than the 31 Cal Pocket model.

I watch Kevin Costner's Wyatt Earp and noted he takes a Richard & Mason off of the thug that he hits with the Pool Ball.
Wyatt has a Starr DA C&B , in his belt at the time.
