With rare exceptions I'm allergic ta Sunday shoots. Too many other fun things goin' on.

Gonna try'n make WP for the Saturday shoot, as MM said, weather permittin'. I ain't gettin' out enough....

I know 'zactly how you feel. I left Cavalier at the same time you did last Sunday. I stopped in Fredricksburg to move my guns from by Brother-In-Law's car to mine.....got home about 8pm.....about a 4 hr journey for something that should take just two.

Saturday shoots are better if you can make them. There is no real traffic issue coming back home up I-95N on Saturday evenings like Sundays.

That ONE trip I made to Black Creek onna Sunday west on 64. What a ride. The road of horrors.

Kindah funny. The yankees have their own beaches 'n they flood down here. When we wanna spend a weekend at the beach we go to Carolina to get away from 'em. Don't care for OBX. My pick is Wrightsville Beach. Myrtle Beach has the same problem as OBX, too many people.

Who are the yankees tryin' to get away from? Canadians?

Have you seen some of thier beaches? Rockaway Beach ain't a pretty sight no more....
They done ruined the natural beauty of thier beaches...now they are moving south....like the damn locusts.

Gotta say that after 20 yrs in the Navy, I have seen enough beaches. Giving serious thought of moving inland. Even thinking of Tx or NM. Starting putting out feelers on jobs. Had about enough of tourist season immediately followed by hurricane season.

I am planning on making the Saturday WP match. Should be fun and I hear it is National Cowboy Day. How can you beat that!!!!!!

WW - I hear you there - got some more time in and around beaches or ports for at least 10 more years or more - what can I say.

I plan to shoot Fredericksburg ( have to work that out with wife since she is coming home either on a friday or monday) and then Pungo - then it is family vacation time until the end of August.

I got the black powder 11mm french rounds in from GAD custom ammunition - so I am taking Arcey up on offer to shoot them fine guns for a match for fun in Pungo/Wakefield.

They will be fun wild bunch match guns. I may see if they will do a WB category at next Louisiana "The Hanging" and then shoot the guns in a full match. They are not fast and they are a bit ugly - but them guns are very fun.

I may need ya'lls read on amount of smoke though - after talking to the owner of GAD ammunition he said that he loaded roughly .8 to 1cc of schuetzen FFFG.

LCR - you want to shoot the Free State shoot in August? It is the 17th and I can not go - let me know and I will tell Chuckaroo.

Been within fifteen miles of a beach all my life. Can remember when droppin' kids off in Ocean View 'n pickin' 'em up later was safe 'n acceptable. Me, the older I got the less the attraction.

While Mary was alive 'n active, we had access to a few hundred yards of private beach at the north end. No noise, no tourists, no trash – animate or inanimate. No twenty dollar parkin' fees. Go shower up at Mary's condo. Launder the girls 'n walk next door to the Lynnhaven Fish House for dinner out over the water. By the time we got home the girls were zonked 'n the wife 'n me could make all the noise we wanted. Made for a real nice day.

Break over. Get back ta loadin' smokey thingys so I kin go shootin'. Need ta wipe off the guns too. They been waitin' since the first Saturday.

Always reminds me of the youngster it Black Crick shootin' behind me one shoot. Ole man what 'lived down the street' had 'im convinced he had ta wash 'n oil 'is stuff soons he got home. Said he was gettin' tired of doin' it 'n was goin' smokeless.

Tried ta tell the kid that was an old wive's tale but he wouldn't listen. Derned sad when someone bent on keepin' Black Powder shootin' in the eighteenth century ruins some youngster's fun.

After shooting it a couple of seasons, I am now convinced it's from the smoke pole mentality. I shot nmlra matches in the 70's we swabbed between shots. I knock the barrels off my OT's this morning spritz'd again, could have just wiped them down with oil and put them back together. I did pull a bore snake thru first, since I had all the stuff out. In all honesty Montana's Rugars are dirtier. If you haven't read the .45 cal in Rifles forum it puts some more light on it. But those who want to shoot Smoky less have at it. Sod Buster claims it's that they only clean once a year so that's why they stay with it. He may have a good point.

SB knows where of he speaks. Tried ta clean mine every other shoot when I shot smokeless but it didn't always happen. The Glocks are clean 'cuz I bet my tail on 'em on the street.

Ain't looked it the thread. No interest in anything .45 "Long" Colt. Kindah leave that ta the resident hot soapy water experts 'n keep my nose out their bidness.

Sad news

Looks like family business is going ta keep me from going to Free State shoot. Need to help the parents and sister git to Tx so we will be driving out on Aug 13 and I will be flying back. If I am lucky I will be back on Aug 16 late which will not give me nuf time to git there. Guess I will have ta wait 'til next year.
