With weather looking good my youngin is itching to shoot some targets with her daddy.

I think she was more bummed than I about losing her cowgirl weekend with daddy to Hurricane Sandy - course i was so busy I could not take a moment to think about it until after Sandy passed. Believe me I was bummed too but Sarah was pretty pouty...

She is excited to be shooting with her cowboy family again!

Goosefoot - I will be bringing the powder for you and WW!

Might even finally get to say hi to my STG 44 reproduction in 22lr finally after the shoot!

Was checking out the 1860 Armys this morning and found that on one of them the screw by closest to the trigger was almost completely loose.  Don't know this that would have caused some of the problems I was having with the caps not going off yesterday.  I think most of my problem was not being able to seat the caps well enough.  I have a dowel I'm going to make into a cap seater.  I also got a piece of PVC pipe to go over the push rod to help save the hands when seating the balls.

Must say it was an interesting experience shooting the C&Bs.  When they went off I was hitting the target....most of the time.  I think if I can get reliable ignition they will be fun to shoot.  But I do have some work to do.

I need to spend more time shooting them also. The improvements Nate made on the one were worth the money and his efforts. I have realiable ignition from it now.

Just got in an order of Federal large pistol primers #150.  One of the bricks was making noise and when I opened it up three of the trays didn't have the cardboard slip cover on them.  One of the trays was empty and the primers were all over the inside of the box.  I seated one into an empty case and fired it out of my RV and it went bang.  I guess they will be alright.  I've never seen that before.  I sent an email to Federal to let them know.  Anyone else every run into that?

I bought a brick from the over priced place down the road from here.  Got home had one tray missing from it. They now mark an X on boxes they open for individual sales. Never had anything like that happen.

Dropped off the 1860s with Nate today.  He is going to do his voodoo.  I'm sure they we work a whole lot better after he is done with em'.  He gave me a couple of shootin' tips as well.

He told me I was the only one he ever gaeve any tips too. Now the secrets is out. :o

His biggest shootin' tip from all his cap and ball experience was to wipe your hands after loading to make sure all the lube is off prior to loading your caps.  He also mentioned aiming.  I've heard that one before so I really should give that a try some time.   ;D

I was a bit disappointed with him a bit.  He said he couldn't install a bullet guidance system to remove the misses from the guns.  And here I thought he knew everything there was about working on C&B pistols!   :-\

This is Pony Racers fault.  He tricked us into believing we could shoot better by converting.  Kind of like the beef jerky salesman at the Gunshow tricking us out of our money.  (Another story)

He has to keep a few secrets to himself in case he ever gets back to shooting with us.

PR send our congrats to your daughter.  That is really fantastic!

I wrote the Federal Primers about the brick that had the loose primers.  I got an email back saying they will look into what might have caused that problem.  They also said they are sending and "inconvenience check" to me.   :o  Everyone once in awhile a large company like this actually impresses you.
