Light loaded cartridge

Just got a Lee Classic Turret press and found I have a learning curve.  The powder measure got loosened from the primer loader as it was going around on its turns.  Darn glad I checked a case.  Did some weighing and it appears I have about 3 light loaded cartridges.  I'm thinking it would be better to toss them than try and shoot them as they must have a significant air pocket in them.  I'm loading 2f Goex so it s the real mcCoy.

I don't have a bullet puller so really don't have the ability to yank out the bullet.  Me thinks a$.70 cent loss is the way to go and just toss em.

Any comments??

Howdy Pard,

Simply put the loaded bullet in the press shell holder and run it up thru an opening without a die in it.  Grab hold of the bullet with a pliars or vice grips and lower the ram.  Presto, wrecked bullet but saved brass, powder and primer.  Put the messed up bullet in with your melt pile and reload the brass.

Yep.  My bullet puller is marked "channel Lock"

Speakinowich, I'm gonna be usin'  it tomorrow  to pull 50 or so bullets as I had my very first (followed by my second) squib today.  I was runnin the heathen stuff, and shore 'nuff got two of em with only a pinch of powder.  It was enough "pop" to get em fully into the rifling in the pipe on the pistol, but that was all she wrote.  After the second one, I voluntarily withdrew from shooting and stayed and ROed and so on.  Couldn't in good conscience shoot any more of that batch of ammo, and I gotta make sure my measure is OK (probably had a clump in it).

I broke my Kinetic puller years ago on my taper crimped 32 mag stuff, what a pain to remove.  Sence most of the ammo I shoot is cast I do as Dick and Jack and just toss the bullets in a can under the bench.  A lot easier on bad wrists also.  If I had a bunch of jacketed to pull I might get one again if there was enough bullets to be saved to make it worth while.  BTW I always had my best luck with one beating it on a soft lead ingot, no energy wasting bounch. ;)

I've been taking my inertial puller out and slamming it on the patio. Works fine, but the dogs don't like it. I had to pull about 300 bullets one time. It took a loooong time. I'm going to have to try that vice grip puller. Good idea.

I use a kinetic puller with a 4 lb sledge hammer. I whack it on the side of the hammer head. Takes a long time to pull a bunch, but it works great and the dogs, nor the cat seem to mind at all....LOL!

Got home and tried the trick.  Worked well on some PRS boolits I had but dang if I could get a grasp on the J/P 200.  Just kept nipping off lead.  Finally gave up and tossed it. 2 out of 3 ain't bad :D

Thanks for the tip DD I hates it when I have to pull a bullet and the powder follows it down the tube. I think next time I'll give your suggestion a try.

I broke down and bought a collet type bullet puller.  Run the cartridge into the die.  tighten the collet around the bullet and bring the ram down and the bullet pops out.
Listen!  Do you hear that?  The roar of Cannons and the screams of the dying.  Ahh!  Music to my ears.

Use BIG pliers and grasp the bullet with the part of the jaws nearest the hinge.  That way ya got hold of em TIGHT before ya try to pull, and they pull without slipping.

I had to innovate a little with my C45S rounds.  They're too short to run up through the hole in the turret, so I removed the turret from the old LEE three-holer, and simply used the big hole as a fulcrum.  With a round in the shell plate, run the ram all the way up, grab the bullet firmly with the part of the jaws of my big channel locks nearest the hinge, and rock the pliers on the edge of the press.  Bingo, they pull easily, and the smashed bullets get saved (the lube is good for fluxing the pot), and the powder dumped into a bowl and tossed onto the flower beds for the roses.
