Old Top

I see Arlo is alive and well.   :-X

Top,
You can take me them places I just caint assure you I'll stay in one place.

Miz Lee,
I have tried panning them waters a few times, and as Top says the most color you get is the blue in your hands, but there was a gold mining town there at the turn of the century and folks still do find some color upstream. I would like to try again, just for the fun. I do have a little vial of gold, (but must admit most of it I got panning at Knotts Berry Farm, In fact me and another guy were there the day they "salted" the stream. The other guy scored almost an ounce, and I got about  1/10 or so..and they had to let us keep it....)

Want to come pannin with me and Top, But, probly best not wear a dress, you know how us "ner-do-wells" are...

Curley, if you what to do some paning try up above Pine Flat Lake. Its out of Fresno a hour or so. I have had good luck in the creeks on the river above the lake there. Not a bad place for a little wild pig hunt.

Good luck.

Curley Cole

gg,
Thanks for the tip. It so happens my son lives in Madera. He and his family go there often. I could introduce a whole herd of grandkids to panning... In fact Me and Old Top have relatitves in Visalia and were thinking about shoots we can sneak off to while supposedly visiting...

The Fresno gun club did have SASS shoots. I was born in Madera and lived there around till 98. Went in the Navy to get out of Cal. and spent 8 years on Camp Pendelton. Now in NE. Much beter deer hunting out here.

Curley Cole

It seems like everybody was born there....I was born and raized (that's for Miz Lee <big grin>) in Tulare, left when I was 10. Nice place to visit, well maybe to pass thru....

The time has passed so quick, the years all run together now.

When I was at Knotts Berry Farm about ten years ago, they didn't offer panning that I knew of, but you could buy geodes and have them cut open. I still have a couple of them, bright with the amythest inside.

A little northwest of where I live there is an area of Virginia that had gold. I pass by it once in a while. Maybe I'll take Will one day and see if we can pan.

The song is one I can't find the lyrics for and it isn't playing out in my head...

Is summer gone, has it been that long,
I guess that's what season's will bring,
I'm caught again, in the Autumn wind,
But I remember Spring.
Oh, I've seen brighter days,
Seen lighter days,

And there, my memory fades.

First, You are tired from yer Windmill tilting. I put a word in just for you and you didn't seem to catch it....rest up lady....
Second, that song is so very familar but cant put my finger on it....who and what..
Third, the gold panning was at Knotts a whole lot of years ago. At the front of the ghost town there was a little mine shack and a big trough that they had water running thru and you could pan for real gold for a ticket or 50cents. Its long gone now...
and fourth, you dind't say anything about going panning with me and Top, don't you trust us......

I will be forewarned and will watch my rig....but don't seem to be too dangerous...

Here is my song for tonite:

He looked down in to her blue eyes and said
Say a prayer for me
She threw her arms around him and whispered
God will keep us free
They could hear the riders comin
He said this is my last fight
If they take me back to texas
they wont take me back alive

There were seven spanish Angels
at the alter of the sun
They were prayin for the lovers
in the valley of the gun
When the battle stopped and the smoke cleared
There was thunder from the throne
and seven spanish angels
took another angel home

She reached down and picked the gun up
that lay smokin in his hand
She said Father please forgive me
I can't make it without my man
and she knew the gun was empty
and she knew that she couldnt win
But her final prayer was answered
When the rifles fired again........

....what can I say after that.??

Curley, I caught the raized. ;)

The song is Brighter Days from Loggins and Messina's Mother Lode, an album that means a lot to me.

I'm ok.

Nicely done....
I knew I recognized the song. My brother borrowed most of my L&M and I never saw it again, mostly what I have is strictly L. He's ok but the duo was better..

Take care,

Ya think so if ya didn't have the door key with you just the ignition key, we had to take the back window out with a lid lifter at midnite.  He's always lockin' the dang door on vehicles had to walk most of a mile one time ta retrive the key ta my car, der Calyforian though someone would steal my spices out of the car.

My thinks yer song is Ray and Willy doin' Seven Spanish Angels from Half Nelson.

Del,
I gotcha, I actually did that same thing to a girl I was dating,(well kinda the same thing.) She lived with her parents..(at 30, but thats another story) anyways as we were leaving I have a automatic habit of locking the door on the way out...Little did I know they didn;t have a key to that lock and only used the dead bolt. They got home before we did, and lets say they were not happy having to climb thru the winder....

I guess that Willie tune wasn't as hard as I thought it was gonna be...Well done.....thought it kinda fit.

Old Top

Curly,

Next your are going to tell me you cannot buy blueberry pie by the slice at the take out window at Knotts, and that you have to pay to get in now.  Has it been that long?

Older Top
I only shoot to support my reloading habit.

Curley Cole

OLDER Top

Well, yes you can buy the pie by the slice, but it was much more fun to buy 3 pies and ask for 3 forks (for those that weren''t there, me,  Top and a pard had been surfin', yes I said surfin', and were hungry and bought 3 whole pies and sat down and ate them. the next week Top tried to do the same thing with a whole german chocolate cake, and dang near kilt himself!)

that was the days when you could get it to Knotts for free, so, yes Top it does cost to get in now. But, good news the pie stand is outside the admission gate, want to go out for a boysenberry pie....ahaaaaaaaaa

I'm here!

Buck, I haven't forgotten about your lost village, but there's not much I can do about it when we are iced in.

They recently opened a building for the history of the Northern Neck, which includes Lancaster County, less than five miles from here, so I'll be going there. So far, nothing's turned up in the Google searches, so any details you can add would help. Some sites have pretty complete Census records, even from burned out towns.

I've been working on sewing a bright yellow flannel skirt. So far it looks ok.

Some music would be nice...
