I want to use the same bullet size, if possible, with my Pietta Remington1858 pistol (with Kirst) and my Marlin 45 LC cowboy rifle..the BIG lube 210 gr and the BIB lube 250 gr respectively. Bullets are listed either .452 or .454 dia. Does a soft lead bullet matter that mutch ?
Thanks.

Howdy Dodge City Slicker,

More importantly, what do your respective barrels slug at.  Traditional wisdom prefers a bullet equal to, or 1/1000" over bore size.  Slug the barrels and know the truth.

Or if you don't want to slug the barrels just use the bigger size. The bullets are soft enough to squeeze down a couple thousandths with no problems.

I use .454" in all my .45 Colt guns (ie. Rugers, Ubertis, Marlins, R&D cylinders, etc.). The bullets hit the targets if I do my part. BTW, I use wheel weight or softer lead.

DCS,
I think you can use the . 452  Your Pietta is .451 Nom and the 45LC should be .452 Nom. That is the bore of my Uberti Henry, I don't know the bore of the Marlin for sure. I think the .454 will work as well in the Pietta too. But as the man says your mileage may vary.
Check out the size of Winchester Cowboy load 45LC. I know they'll work in both.

Hey BTW The High Desert Range Assoc (CAS) is shooting at Desert Marksmen Range on the 19th of the month, We'd like to see  you there if possible.

I met you at the last shoot.
