Lyman #2 alloy... I am having GREAT results with it

I know traditionalists with BPCR have a love/hate with Lyman#2, but, it casts so easily, it does heat treat fairly well when needed, and I get ZERO leading with it in my 38-55 model 94, my 1886 45-90, and in my 56-50 spencer.

All those tend to put the bullets down range at over 1100fps with GOEX express.

the 56-50 carbine does about 1150fps
The 38-55 does about 1350fps
The 45-90 with a 300gr bullet is at about 1450fps

I have had nothing but tough times casting with 20:1 or 30:1 alloys. They just are not as easy as I had hoped.

Am I alone in my frustration with "traditional" BP alloys and an outcast for thinking Lyman #2 is not so bad?  ???

Nothing wrong with Lyman #2 alloy.  The biggest difference is the arsenic and there's not much of that. I found a table of common alloys for bullet casting, but it's in html and I can't attach it.  If I can get some help  here, I'll try to make the table available.

One of the most common casting problems I've seen is that of a consistent casting temperature.  I've seen a lot of pards trying to cast without a thermometer.  That's like flying blind without an altimeter. . .

Dick, I've got a table like that as a hard copy, if you can't get that one up with some help I'll type mine out by hand later when I have some time.

Thanks Delmonico,

I've got a print out now and I can scan it Monday and put it up as a .jpg file.  It ought to be readable that way.  If I can't get it to work, I'll attach it to an emule and send it along to you for posting.  I don't pretend to be a computer guru but I do find 'em puters useful.
