Some time last year someone posted on here the name of a Sutler who could supply the proper trooper mounted pants side stripe for officers. Refresh my memory if you please as I am presently in need.  Besides, them light blue pants look a little sissyish without them.

Dr. Bob

Gripmaker,

You are a manly man and can get by with it!  Sorry, but I don't remember either.  Mind like a steel sieve! :o ::) ;D

Gila River Trading Co., out of Arizona carries them.
Well firstly, you've mention 'Trooper' & 'Officer" in the same breath in regards to Rank Stripes on the outer seam of the 'Sky Blue' Mounted Breeches. Seen as how Only Buglers (1/2" double stripe), NCO's (single wide stripe a varrying widths depending on rank), Officers (single narrow width) had them & Troopers did not, your inclusion of them together in the same sentence inaccurate.

Major 2

The Col. is correct... Jr. Officers 1/8 " welt sewn in the the seam , General Officers might have a double 1/2" wide stripe.
NCO's (single wide stripe a varying widths depending on rank), as stated....

Sutlers carrying these are several.... Fall Creek (Andy Falks) , Servant & Co. (Gettysburg) C&D Jarnagin ( Corinth, Miss.)
Quartermaster Shop & Lumis Brothers.
One can also buy the worsted wool stripes in branch colors to be added....

Grapeshot

After 1872:

Corporals:  one-half inch stripe the color of their branch.

Sergeant:  1 inch stripe in Branch Color.

Staff Grade NCO's:  1.25 inches in Branch Color

Officers:  1.5 inch stripe in Branch Color.

Staff Corps Officer:  Dark Blue Trousers, no stripes.

General Staff:  Same as Staff Corps.
Listen!  Do you hear that?  The roar of Cannons and the screams of the dying.  Ahh!  Music to my ears.

Gripmaker

To all: Era to be portrayed is 1870s , so I guess Grapeshot has the right scoop.  Thanks to you all for your input.
