My new used Pietta needed all new inards. I dont believe it had ever been fired. I could find no trace of gunpowder nowhere. Someone played with it like a toy. Hammer ruined and all 6 nipples were mushroomed to the point that you could not see through them. I got 2 of everything. Works fine but has excessive trigger creep. I assume I am to file on the trigger sear? Front or back, or what? Oh buy the way if any body here has a tranny problem e-mail me from my profile page. Ill try to help. Its this legal or proper? Just trying to help out a pard.

For trigger creep you may have to make the hammer's notch a bit shallower, but it has to be done so that the sear won't catch on the half cock notch on the way down.  An Arkansas stone can be used to put a slight chamfer on the rear corner of the sear, which will shorten the distance the sear has to travel by shifting the contact point forward.

Thanks for the advice Flint. I was wondering. If I bought some snap caps and did some dry fire would these new parts mate together eventually or is this creep not going to go away unless I work the parts as you mentiond?

Flint

Dry firing will help smooth out the action and trigger pull, but won't reduce the creep, though it will smooth up the creep if it feels gritty.

Dry fire the gun with the cylinder removed, or at least the nipples removed.

Hey Flint, When you were kicking around Piru Gun Club did you ever run into a couple friends of mine. One has moved to Idaho and the guy that took his place at the club still lives here in Acton.
Danny Charbonneaux moved to Idaho and Steve Balnken biller took his place at the range. Do you know these guys. Steve goes to my Church.

I might know Danny by an alias name, but I knew Steve Blankenbiller, if I recall correctly from years ago in the SWPL.
