Wow! These are very rare! Looks like it was well cared for.

This gun is begging to be antiqued. Maybe also a steel trigger guard and refinished grips.

Long Johns Wolf

Yes, steel trigger guard and caliber .44 or .45 Colt...
I wonder when Uberti made this one

I'm not a Remington guy anymore but noticed this topic and sent the seller an email.

He replied, "The gun has no pitting but has some leading in the forcing cone."

There's a little discoloration (rust?) on the web, barrel, and ejector, but nothing that can't be cleaned up. The gun is probably 35 or more years old.

Yes, but a .357 is simply an "extra roomy .38 Colt".  ;D   Not authentic for a Remington, but an authentic Old West caliber.  ;)

Why do the Italians make .357 sixguns anyway? USFA makes .38 Specials. I mean, almost no one shoots full power magnums in these guns, and the long chambers degrade accuracy to a small degree when shooting .38 Specials/Colts.

Regarding CAS, you're right. I think they are trying to appeal to as many people as possible, not just CAS folks. Heck I haven't seen a .38 spl Ruger and yet a lot of them are doing well in CAS. I have one friend that has a pair of .357 1875's because they are .357. Had they been .38 spl, he wouldn't have bought them.

Oh well, I guess it's time to go fondle my 19th Century magnum. (God, does that ever sound strange.)

LOL, I think of my Cowboy 45 Special loads as 45-25's. It's all in the name. :D

I guess you could think of the Cowboy Special loads as .450 Webley loads.  Look about the same!

Technically, you could buy the gun and have the cylinder rechambered and a new barrel screwed on, but I'd almost bet Uberti has changed the threads since then.  ;)
