Willie, In dance band( stage band if you will), I used to do Clyde McCoy's "Sugar Blues", had a lot of fun with that harmon mute I'll tell you. In marching band, my senior year, I did a solo in the football stadium here of "The Shadow of Your Smile". Actually had a band person from the opposing school mention it two years afterwards when we were both working at The Hoover Company(RIP)..................Buck

Of all the HS bands I played in that was ma favorite one. Nobody in my school played banjo so the teacher had an old friend of his sit in with for performances. That extra sound really added alot.

Dixie bands er usualy mobile Pop. Unless we kin get the Killer back I don't know if we'll find anyone up ta the task of marchin that thing down tha street.

However, metionin that rinky tink pianer did get me thinkin on Scott Joplin. He was the Jimmy Hendrix of his time

Yeah, a pianer would be necessary for a non-marching band, Leo. Don't think I've got enough wind for the horn, let alone marchin' with it too. the bum peg wouldn't hold up for any distance either. Standin' stil, er, sittin' I'm your man.........Buck

Standin still is fine sa long as ya can do it out on the street. The only times I saw a Dixie band "march" was in a funeral procession. I want that. They go in playin the sad stuff and come out with the lively tunes.
By mobile I was just meanin pickin up an movin on ta a differnt corner every now an then.
