Don't know of anyone doin' A Whiter Shade 'fore Procol Harum.

Felt like throwin' this'n in here........

I knew a man Bojangles and he'd dance for you
In worn out shoes
With silver hair, a ragged shirt, and baggy pants
The old soft shoe
He jumped so high, jumped so high
Then he lightly touched down

I met him in a cell in New Orleans I was
down and out
He looked to me to be the eyes of age
as he spoke right out
He talked of life, talked of life, he laughed
clicked his heels and stepped

He said his name "Bojangles" and he danced a lick
across the cell
He grabbed his pants and spread his stance,
Oh he jumped so high and then he clicked his heels
He let go a laugh, let go a laugh
and shook back his clothes all around

Mr. Bojangles, Mr. Bojangles
Mr. Bojangles, dance

He danced for those at minstrel shows and county fairs
throughout the south
He spoke through tears of 15 years how his dog and him
traveled about
The dog up and died, he up and died
And after 20 years he still grieves

He said I dance now at every chance in honky tonks
for drinks and tips
But most the time I spend behind these county bars
'cause I drinks a bit
He shook his head, and as he shook his head
I heard someone ask him please

Mr. Bojangles, Mr. Bojangles
Mr. Bojangles, dance..

LOL!!!!!!!

I'll admit I don't listen to country. Cowboy ain't country BTW. Hell, I ain't listened to any broadcast music except classic rock in prolly twenty years.

Heard this one mentioned on a talk show 'n looked it up. Geezzzzzz it's funny.

She used to call me baby... I thought she was such a lady
But my how things have changed since times moved on

I give her my last dollar... And now all she'll do is holler
Oh my life has become a country song

I've learned she can resist me by the way she always disses me
And comes to bed at night, with that cold cream on

Sometimes I might feel frisky but these days it's just too risky

It's Hard To Kiss The Lips At Night That
Chew Your Ass Out All Day Long
All day Long
It goes on and on

If a tree fell in the forest, She didn't
hear it, would I still be wrong

I guess I should admit it
She ain't ever gonna quit it

It's Hard To Kiss The Lips At Night That
Chew Your Ass Out All Day Long

Man I remember when her eyes used to be so blue and shiny
God you oughtta see what's happened to her hiney
(Her what?) her hiney
Man that thing is big enough to land a small plane on.
(Small plane?) I'm tellin' ya
I used to roll her in the clover, (mmm mmm)
but think god those days are over
(Hallelulia!)

It's Hard To Kiss The Lips At Night That
Chew Your Ass Out All Day Long
All day Long
She naws on and on

If some day they drop the big one,
I'd say sweet Jesus, She's gonna finally leave me alone

It's alright if we say it
'cause the radio won't play it.

It's Hard To Kiss The Lips At Night That
Chew Your Ass Out All Day Long

It's Hard To Kiss The Lips At Night That
Chew Your Ass Out All Day Long

I think it is time for some of Mason Williams (remember him??) Them Poems:

so here for your edification and enjoyment is:

Them Lunch Toters

How about Tjem Lunch Toters,
Ain't them a bunch?
Goin' off to work
A-totin' they lunch

Totin' them vittles
Totin that chow
Eatin it later,
but a totin' it now.

Look at Them Lunch Toters
Aint they funny?
Some use a paper sack
Some use a gunny

Them food-frugal Lunch Toters
Ain't they wise?
Totin they lunch
Made by they wives

How to be a Lunch Toter?
Iffa may emote it,
Gitchy wife to fix it
Go to work and tote it....

Anyone remember these, and have any of the others???

(I was diggin thru my desk at work and found a couple printed out...heheh)

Didn't Mason Williams do Classical Gas?

If so, that's the only one I know.

Yup ol Mason did do Classical Gas. He also wrote the "Bus Book", you open it and it is a 36' image of a grayhound bus. He also did a song called "sunflower" and it plays to an airplane skywriting a flower at sunrise in the desert.

He also was a comedy writer for the Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour....and

he wrote Them Poems....a bunch of them. The shortest was on a Kingston Trio record in the '60's and was called:

Them Hor Douvers
by Mason Williams

How about them Hor Douvers
A little piece of cheeze
and a little piece of meat.

He was quite a talented nutcase...

Classical Gas ... I sure wish the Classic Rock stations would play THAT more than once a year rather than some of the great songs they repeat over and over and over and over and ... It's a great song, but I'm kinda tired of hearing Bob See-gar singing "Love the way she walks."
"May Your Powder always be Dry and Black; Your Smoke always White; and Your Flames Always Light the Way to Eternal Shooting Fulfillment !"

It is, indeed.  Who could forget...

Them Toad Suckers
How about Them Toad Suckers,
Ain't they clods?
Sittin' there suckin'
Them green toady-frogs.

Suckin' them hop-toads,
Suckin' them chunkers,
Suckin' them leapy types,
Suckin' them plunkers.

Look at Them Toad Suckers,
Ain't they snappy?
Suckin' them bog-frogs
Sure makes'em happy.

Them huggermugger Toad Suckers,
Way down south,
Stickin' them sucky-toads
In they mouth.

How to be a Toad Sucker?
No way to duck it.
Gittchyself a toad,
Rare back and suck it!

I drove up the Muster in Nebraska last week. It turned out to be a all nighter. I'm glad I had a lot of good Cowboy music for my CD player in the truck. Don Edwards, Ian Tyson, R W Hampton, Riders In The SKY, and Sons of The San Jaoquin. It made the trip mor enjoyable.

Had two big horns and a wooly jaw.
Wooly bully, wooly bully.
Wooly bully, wooly bully, wooly bully.
Hatty told Matty, "Let's don't take no chance.
Let's not be L-seven, come and learn to dance."
Wooly bully, wooly bully
Wooly bully, wooly bully, wooly bully.
Matty told Hatty, "That's the thing to do.
Get you someone really to pull the wool with you."
Wooly bully, wooly bully.
Wooly bully, wooly bully, wooly bully.
