DIck Dale was proclaimed as "The King of Surf Guitar", along with his combo, The Daletones.

Sa far as I know there are only two Dick Dale songs with words in em.  One of them is "King of the Surf Guitar" sung by a bunch a wimmin an the other one is the only song I know of Dick singing himself.  Him and his Deltones were the best,

I think I mentioned this before, But I used to go down to Solana Beach and listen to Dick Dale and the Deltones every time they played at the Belly Up!

Now it's the Comstock Cowboys in Virginia City I go to see.  Took the MIL up yesterday , and got her to have her picture taken with David (The Leader of the band) taken.  Still get to dress up and carry even though we're half way between shoots.

Girl you taught me how to hurt real bad and cry myself to sleep
You showed me how this town can shatter dreams
Another lesson bout a naive fool that came to Babylon
And found out that the pie don't taste so sweet

Now it's guitars Cadillacs hillbilly music
And lonely lonely streets I call home
Yeah my guitars Cadillacs hillbilly music
It's the only thing that keeps me hanging on
There ain't no glamour in this tinseled land of lost and wasted last
And painful scars are all that's left of me
Oh but thank you girl for teaching me brand new ways to be cruel
And if I can find my mind now I guess I'll just leave

Now it's guitars Cadillacs hillbilly music...
Oh it's guitars Cadillacs hillbilly music...
It's the only thing that keeps me hanging on
It's the only thing that keeps me hanging on

And now some Brenn Hill:

Talk about the weather
And the prices of cattle
Your wife's worthless brother
And his brand new saddle

Talk about women
The heart-breakin' kind
And lay it all on the table
Get it off your mind

Down at the Pickup Truck Cafe
We drink coffee here every day
We sit and talk the morning away
Down at the Pickup Truck Cafe

'Cross the county line
And out on the very edge of town
You'll never see the sign
Facin' down on the ground

The world's movin' on
The mornin' radio
Twenty years long gone
Nobody knows where they go

Down at the Pickup Truck Cafe
We drink coffee here every day
We sit and talk the morning away
Down at the Pickup Truck Cafe

It don't matter what you wear
It don't matter who you are
Cuz most things they don't care
But don't you dare drive a car

Down to the Pickup Truck Cafe
We drink coffee here every day
We sit and watch the time just fade away
Down at the Pickup Truck Cafe

And some Ed Bruce"

This is the last cowboy song the end of a hundred year waltz
Voices sound sad as they're singing along another piece of America's lost

He rides a feed lot and clerks in a market on weekends selling tobacco and beer
His dreams of tomorrow surrounded by fences
But he'll dream tonight of when fences weren't here
He blazed the trail with Lewis and Clark
And eyeball to eyeball Ol' Wyatt backed down
He stood shoulder to shoulder with Travis in Texas
And rode with the Seventh when Custer went down
This is the last cowboy song...

Remington showed us how he looked on canvas
And Louie L'Amore has told us his tale
And Willie and Waylon and me sing about him
And wish to God we could have ridden his trail

The Old Chisholm Trail is covered in concrete now
And they truck 'em to market in fifty foot rigs
They blow by his market never slowing to reason
Like living and dying was all he did
This is the last cowboy song...
This is the last cowboy song...
This is the last cowboy song...

This one is a favorite of all time:

[Nelson:]
I was a highwayman. Along the coach roads I did ride.
With sword and pistol by my side.
Many a young maid lost her baubles to my trade.
Many a soldier shed his lifeblood on my blade.
The bastards hung me in the spring of twenty-five.
But I am still alive.

[Kristofferson:]
I was a sailor. I was born upon the tide.
And with the sea I did abide.
I sailed a schooner round the Horn to Mexico.
I went aloft and furled the mainsail in a blow.
And when the yards broke off they said that I got killed.
But I am living still.

[Cash:]
I was a dam builder across the river deep and wide.
Where steel and water did collide.
A place called Boulder on the wild Colorado.
I slipped and fell into the wet concrete below.
They buried me in that great tomb that knows no sound.
But I am still around.
I'll always be around, and around, and around, and around, and around.

[Jennings:]
I fly a starship across the Universe divide.
And when I reach the other side,
I'll find a place to rest my spirit if I can.
Perhaps I may become a highwayman again.
Or I may simply be a single drop of rain.
But I will remain.
And I'll be back again, and again, and again, and again, and again.

The ole boy Del listens ta late it nights been runnin' a lot of Cash for bumper music. He'll let almost the whole song play out. Cuts down on the minutes he has ta be talkin' o'er the length of the talk show.

Likes 'Some Velvet Mornin''. I hear it start I pick up the remote 'n shut it off for a couple minutes. Don't see how anyone sober can claim they actually like that.
