No youtube on that one, but I got ta hear it.  Reminds me of Chris Rea, I love that "deserty" sound with the slide electric and harmonica.  Thanks Del.

No problem, that part

I have walked through God's green pastures and seen the rich blue skies
I have seen the fall of man and the kingdom hidden from his eyes
I have heard the roar of thunder and felt the lightening bolt
And when I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I take along
Samuel Colt

is gonna become the ring tone for you folks.  Had to do a bit of redo, some I had are hard to hear for me, that one ain't.

I was wrong, Gary P. Nunn wrote London Homesick Blues.   ::)  Gary P. Nunn, Steve Goodman, Guy Clark, Jerry Jeff and a bunch of others hung around together a lot, Also Steve Ray Vaughn.

Well, when you're down on your luck,
and you ain't got a buck,
in London you're a goner.
Even London Bridge has fallen down,
and moved to Arizona,
now I know why.
And I'll substantiate the rumor that the English sense of humor
is drier than than the Texas sand.
You can put up your dukes, and you can bet your boots
that I'm leavin' just as fast as I can.

I wanna go home with the arma [Am] dillo
Good country music from Ama rillo and Abi lene
The friendliest people and the prettiest women you've ever
seen.

Well, it's cold over here, and I swear
I wish they'd turn the heat on.
And where in the world is that English girl
I promised I would meet on the third floor.
And of the whole damn lot, the only friend I've got
is a smoke and a cheap guitar.
My mind keeps roamin', my heart keeps longin'
to be home in a Texas bar.

I wanna go home with the arma [Am] dillo
Good country music from Ama rillo and Abi lene
The friendliest people and the prettiest women you've ever
seen.

Well, I decided that I'd get my cowboy hat
and go down to Marble Arch Station.
'Cause when a Texan fancies, he'll take his chances.
Chances will be taken, that's for sure.
And them Limey eyes, they were eyein' the prize
that some people call manly footwear.
And they said you're from down South,
and when you open your mouth,
you always seem to put your foot there.

I wanna go home with the arma [Am] dillo
Good country music from Ama rillo and Abi lene
The friendliest people and the prettiest women you've ever
seen.

Repeat chorus 'til the cows come home

liked that London Homesick Blues since the viery first time I heard it,  had to go out and buy it on tape.  ;D

you'd have to hunt hard nodays for an Indian Bingo hall,  since they passed the gamin bills over in Oklahoma, all they got is slot machines and poker, no more Bingo.  we go the Chotaw Casino across the line from Ft. Smith sometimes other times to the Cherokee Casino over by Sallisaw. ;D

Here is another one JJW did that I love, was on the last record he made in NY, can't 'member the name, but I saw him on TV one time talkin' 'bout it, lets just say there were problems and the last two songs were fought over to get them on, said to have been made up after the problems oh-curd.  Part of it involved Jesse Winchester, see that was before Jimmy Carter was pez and the record company wouldn't pay for a session in Canada, and Jerry Jeff wouldn't do Mississippi on my Mind with out Jesse, so Jesse was snuck into the NY studio. ::)

Can't 'member the name of the record right now, but have a 33 of it.

Bob Livingston/Gary P. Nunn

Got my irons in the fire down in Texas
Got a toe hold in Tennessee
Got my foot in the door of that California Store
Now I'm up to my ears in me

Don't be concerned if the song sounds familiar
Don't be concerned if it all seems the same
Just be concerned that your policies will kill you
It's all just public domain

I took a bite of the Big Apple
And I dabbled in that forbidden fruit
No they promised me points
And they slipped me skinny joints
And I've yet to see me any loot
From that man in the high-heeled Gucci shoes

Don't be concerned if the song sounds familiar
Don't be concerned if it all seems the same
Just be concerned that your policies will kill you
It's all just public domain

I sang in the Red River Valley
I've drank with the whores in Santa Fe
Yeah, I ran with the snuff queens in Dallas
Like I ran from Snow White in L.A.
Now I've broken all my vows to Demolay

Don't be concerned if the song sounds familiar
Don't be concerned if it all seems the same
Just be concerned that your policies will kill you
And it's all just public domain
It makes sense to get into the rain

The other song I will clean up a bit. ::)

Peein' in the wind, bettin' on a losing friend
Makin' the same mistakes, we swore we'd never make again
And we're peein' in the wind, but it's blowing on all our friends
We're gonna sit and grin and tell our grandchildren

About the time I called this Guy it was four in the morning
Teach me the words to the song I was humming

He just laughed and he said that the ole grey cat is sneakin' down the hall
But all he wants to know is who in the hell is paying for the call

Peein' in the wind, bettin' on a losing friend
Makin' the same mistakes, we swore we'd never make again
And we're peein' in the wind, but it's blowing on all our friends
We're gonna sit and grin and tell our grandchildren

Now this Nunn called me up, it was eight in the morning
Wanted to know how in the world am I doin'
He just laughed and he said get together boy, and fall on by the house
Some Gonzo buddies would like to play anything your's picking now

Peein' in the wind, bettin' on a losing friend
Makin' the same mistakes, we swore we'd never make again
And we're peein' in the wind, but it's blowing on all our friends
We're gonna sit and grin and tell our grandchildren

Now we worked and we suffered and struggled
Makin' our record till we got it right
Now we're waiting on the check to come sneaking down the hall
Like that old time feeling
That we never should have ever put the record out at all

Peein' in the wind, bettin' on a losing friend
Makin' the same mistakes, we swore we'd never make again
And we're peein' in the wind, but it's blowing on all our friends
We're gonna sit and grin and tell our grandchildren

That the answer my friend is just peein' in the wind
The answer is peein' in the sink

They don't say "peein' on the record. ::)

Since on this day in 1945 the flag was raised over Iwo Jima, I thought it would be good to post this, Writen by Bob Dylan, made famous by Johnny Cash:

Call him drunken Ira Hayes
He won't answer anymore
Not the whiskey drinkin' Indian
Nor the Marine that went to war

Gather round me people there's a story I would tell
About a brave young Indian you should remember well
From the land of the Pima Indian
A proud and noble band
Who farmed the Phoenix valley in Arizona land

Down the ditches for a thousand years
The water grew Ira's peoples' crops
'Till the white man stole the water rights
And the sparklin' water stopped

Now Ira's folks were hungry
And their land grew crops of weeds
When war came, Ira volunteered
And forgot the white man's greed

Call him drunken Ira Hayes
He won't answer anymore
Not the whiskey drinkin' Indian
Nor the Marine that went to war

There they battled up Iwo Jima's hill,
Two hundred and fifty men
But only twenty-seven lived to walk back down again

And when the fight was over
And when Old Glory raised
Among the men who held it high
Was the Indian, Ira Hayes

Call him drunken Ira Hayes
He won't answer anymore
Not the whiskey drinkin' Indian
Nor the Marine that went to war

Ira Hayes returned a hero
Celebrated through the land
He was wined and speeched and honored; Everybody shook his hand

But he was just a Pima Indian
No water, no home, no chance
At home nobody cared what Ira'd done
And when did the Indians dance

Call him drunken Ira Hayes
He won't answer anymore
Not the whiskey drinkin' Indian
Nor the Marine that went to war

Then Ira started drinkin' hard;
Jail was often his home
They'd let him raise the flag and lower it
like you'd throw a dog a bone!

He died drunk early one mornin'
Alone in the land he fought to save
Two inches of water in a lonely ditch
Was a grave for Ira Hayes

Call him drunken Ira Hayes
He won't answer anymore
Not the whiskey drinkin' Indian
Nor the Marine that went to war

Yeah, call him drunken Ira Hayes
But his land is just as dry
And his ghost is lyin' thirsty
In the ditch where Ira died

but the one we all learned it from was Fez Parker,

Davy, Davy Crockett, king of the wild frontier!

In eighteen thirteen the Creeks uprose, addin' redskin arrows to the country's woes
Now, Injun fightin' is somethin' he knows, so he shoulders his rifle an' off he goes
Davy, Davy Crockett, the man who don't know fear!

Off through the woods he's a marchin' along, makin' up yarns an' a singin' a song
Itchin' fer fightin' an' rightin' a wrong, he's ringy as a b'ar an' twic't as strong
Davy, Davy Crockett, the buckskin buccaneer!

Andy Jackson is our gen'ral's name, his reg'lar soldiers we'll put to shame
Them redskin varmints us Volunteers'll tame, 'cause we got the guns with the sure-fire aim
Davy, Davy Crockett, the champion of us all!

Headed back to war from the ol' home place, but Red Stick was leadin' a merry chase
Fightin' an' burnin' at a devil's pace, south to the swamps on the Florida Trace
Davy, Davy Crockett, trackin' the redskins down!

Fought single-handed through the Injun War, till the Creeks was whipped an' peace was in store
An' while he was handlin' this risky chore, made hisself a legend for evermore
Davy, Davy Crockett, king of the wild frontier!

He give his word an' he give his hand, that his Injun friends could keep their land
An' the rest of his life he took the stand, that justice was due every redskin band
Davy, Davy Crockett, holdin' his promise dear!

Home fer the winter with his family, happy as squirrels in the ol' gum tree
Bein' the father he wanted to be, close to his boys as the pod an' the pea
Davy, Davy Crockett, holdin' his young'uns dear!

But the ice went out an' the warm winds came, an' the meltin' snow showed tracks of game
An' the flowers of Spring filled the woods with flame, an' all of a sudden life got too tame
Davy, Davy Crockett, headin' on West again!

Off through the woods we're ridin' along, makin' up yarns an' singin' a song
He's ringy as a b'ar an' twict as strong, an' knows he's right 'cause he ain' often wrong
Davy, Davy Crockett, the man who don't know fear!

Lookin' fer a place where the air smells clean, where the trees is tall an' the grass is green
Where the fish is fat in an untouched stream, an' the teemin' woods is a hunter's dream
Davy, Davy Crockett, lookin' fer Paradise!

Now he's lost his love an' his grief was gall, in his heart he wanted to leave it all
An' lose himself in the forests tall, but he answered instead his country's call
Davy, Davy Crockett, beginnin' his campaign!

Needin' his help they didn't vote blind, They put in Davy 'cause he was their kind
Sent up to Nashville the best they could find, a fightin' spirit an' a thinkin' mind
Davy, Davy Crockett, choice of the whole frontier!

The votes were counted an' he won hands down, so they sent him off to Washin'ton town
With his best dress suit still his buckskins brown, a livin' legend of growin' renown
Davy, Davy Crockett, the Canebrake Congressman!

He went off to Congress an' served a spell, fixin' up the Govern'ments an' laws as well
Took over Washin'ton so we heered tell, an' patched up the crack in the Liberty Bell
Davy, Davy Crockett, seein' his duty clear!

Him an' his jokes travelled all through the land, an' his speeches made him friends to beat the band
His politickin' was their favorite brand, an' everyone wanted to shake his hand
Davy, Davy Crockett, helpin' his legend grow!

He knew when he spoke he sounded the knell, of his hopes for White House an' fame as well
But he spoke out strong so hist'ry books tell, an' patched up the crack in the Liberty Bell
Davy, Davy Crockett, seein' his duty clear!

When he come home his politickin' done, the western march had just begun
So he packed his gear an' his trusty gun, an' lit out grinnin' to follow the sun
Davy, Davy Crockett, leadin' the pioneer!

He heard of Houston an' Austin so, to the Texas plains he jest had to go
Where freedom was fightin' another foe, an' they needed him at the Alamo
Davy, Davy Crockett, the man who don't know fear!

His land is biggest an' his land is best, from grassy plains to the mountain crest
He's ahead of us all meetin' the test, followin' his legend into the West
Davy, Davy Crockett, king of the wild frontier!
We done it for Dixie,  nothing else
