I never was much of a Tull fan, thought it was unsusual for a flute in rock music.  At the Highland games, they have Celtic Rock Bands that use fiddles and bagpipes, go figure!

Worked with a guy that solid inta blues.  He followed Eric Clapton since the early days.  Then sometime in the 90's Clapton put out a song that was filled with bagpipes an a fife an drum core.  My buddy 'bout spit rocks when he heard it.  "What the %&^* is this $&^* ?!?"  THIS AINT BLUES"  The guy really through a fit.  I reminded him that Cream didn't do much blues either, but he weren't havin it.

Today I waz listenin to an old David Bromberg album.....glad they finally put it on cd, so I wouldn't have to..anyways the words to
"You gotta suffer to sing the blues"   are sooooo true.

may have to go home and listen to it again after work.

long night at the asylum...(especially since I only have 11 days left to retirement. dang good thing, too since our beloved Govinator had decreed that all state employees will have to have 2 furlough days (that is work for no pay) per month from 2-09 til JUNE 2010!.......now that is sufferin'

I works at Lanterman Developmental Center in Pomona CA. It is for the developmentaly disabled. I been here since 19and66. I have worked most of my career with the adult male population, with moderate to severe behavorial problems. And I got the scars to show for it. I have to say that the retirement is excellent.  I am goin out with 43.7 years and my wife had 33 years. Combined with SS we will be getting by pretty good. Actually nothin to sing the blues about....except for the pain from all the injuries over the years...

and yup the workin joe is really gonna hurt havin to cough up 2 days pay per month.

Curley, don't know if ya ever heard of this fella, good friend of mine.

Been though the mill, sober drunk like me.  He's got a tatto that say's "Born Blue."  Was born one a them 'blue babies' with heart trouble.  Thank Godfor modern medicine.  Good fella, makes most of his livin' doin' studio work, but has some good CD's of his own.

Del, I'm glad you're out and about this morning. I hope the weather ain't too nasty up your way.   I'm sorta a new comer to this retired business, but so far it ain't been that bad. I was really glad this week not having to get out on the ice and have to drive around.

Buisiness here has been slow enough that some days I feel retired.  I'm sure it'll pick up again, but in the mean time I got good practice fer the future ;D  As long as ya keep an eye on the budget it's perty nice ta have time ta do the things ya can't when yer out diggin the figuative ditches everday.  Got plenny ta keep me busy when when nobody needs ma services or a contract falls through.  Good think me an the wife get along, cause we spend a lot of time tagether recently.

Here's another christmas classic I like

Janie Santa's got a gun

Ho ho ho, Santa, what have you done
Ho ho ho, he's got a machine gun
Ho ho ho, Santa, what have you done
Ho ho ho, he'll shoot you, he'll shoot you

Ho ho ho Ho ho ho Ho ho ho Ho ho ho

Santa's got a gun
Santa's got a gun
Kris Kringle's come undone
He musta had too much sun
What did the children do
Chimney's hard to get through

They say when Santa was arrested
They found dead reindeer by his sleigh
But man, he had it comin'
Watch out,Santa's got a gun
Christmas never will be quite the same

Santa's got a gun
Santa's got a gun
His rampage just begun
Now Father Christmas, he's just no fun
You wish it was untrue
What did the children do

He shot at all those people nearby
Oh, Santa's got to be insane
He found the Christmas trees, hid under
Sleigh sounded just like thunder
This year he will inflict lots of pain

Run away, run away from Santa
Ho, ho, ho, ho, ho
Run away, run away from Santa
Ho, ho, ho, ho, ho
Run away, run away, run, run away

Santa's got a gun
Santa's got a gun
His rampage just begun
Now Father Christmas, he's just no fun
What did the children do
Oh, Santa wants to shoot you

They had to stun him and book him
"Cause he had really gone insane
Now Santa's shooting time is done, sure
The man caused so much hurt
Christmas never will be quite the same

Run away, run away from Santa
Ho, ho, ho, ho, ho
Run away, run away from Santa
Ho, ho, ho, ho, ho
Run away, run away run, run away

Santa's got a gun
Santa's got a gun
Santa's got a gun
All his elves are now on the run

Santa's got a gun
Oh this just is no fun
Now everybody's on the run (Santa, Santa, what's his problem)
"Cause Santa's got a gun (I know it's not right)
Santa's got a gun (And he did a lot of robbin')
Live reindeer on the run (He lost his mind tonight)
Santa's got a gun
His elves are on the run
Now everybody's on the run
Santa's got a gun

Aerosmith parodies are always fun no matter what season!  The local radio station did one years ago called "Cleanin out the Fridge" to the tune of "Livin on the Edge".  Instant classic I tell ya.

Hey, it made the web...

There’s something growin’ in the fridge today
I don’t know what it is
It’s bringin’ tears to my eyes
There’s an old milk carton with a picture of
The missin’ Lindbergh kid
It’s been there quite a while

I’m cleanin’ out the fridge
Cleanin’ out the fridge
I’m cleanin’ out the fridge

There’s fungus growin’ in the fridge today
The light bulb’s on the fritz
Somethin’s drawin’ flies
(Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah)
If you can tell its meatloaf
By the color of its skin
Then, mister, you’re a braver man than I

I’m cleanin’ out the fridge
(You can help yourself, I’m full)
(Somethin’s growin)
Cleanin’ out the fridge
(You can help yourself, I’m full)
(A science project)
Cleanin’ out the fridge
(You can help yourself)
(Somethin’s growin’)

Tell me if you think is potato salad
Kinda dated, kind of foul
And it’s getting to you
An open can of tuna fish from last weeks’ callin’
Eat it and you’ll wind up on the cold floor crawlin’
Gaggin’ again back to your porcelain friend
You’re gaggin’ again, and again and again and…

There’s something growin’ in my fridge today
And everybody knows it’s bad
And you can heat it up, or you can serve it cold
But I would rather just throw it out

Cleanin’ out the fridge
(You can help yourself, I’m full)
(Somethin’s growin’)
Cleanin’ out the fridge
(No thanks, help yourself, I’m full)
(A science project)
Cleanin’ out the fridge
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
YUCK!

Arcy:

Yes it is true they that I leave behind still have a job, and for that we are grateful (altho, we do a job that most would not want to be doing) but the problem, is that most of them are average Joe's working from paycheck to paycheck to begin with so losiing 2 days a month is a hard hit to start with, but then they also have to pay the "preposed" 13 cents a gallon additional gas tax and the 2.5 % additional "surcharge" on their state taxes at the end of the year. So the state worker will be double punished...

Del
What is the name of that person?

Well I am down to 10 days now, and it seems like forever...I am sure lookin foward to it. After all this rain we had I think I may go do a bit of gold panning up in Azusa Canyon.
