I swapped off my Spencer some time ago, but want y'all to know that I very proudly wore my Spencer Shooting Society hat exclusively on a recent hunt for plains game in Africa. Used a rifle with that dreadful s*******s powder, though.

Oregon Bill,

Thank you for keeping the SSS cap and faith.  Why did you let your Spencer go?  Shame on you ;D ;D

That reminds me of a story I read years ago. Not trying to "D.B Cooper" your thread.  ;)

An American was hunting in Africa in the 1960's and noticed that one of the native trackers was using an antiquated 1876 Win. in 50-95 Express!!  :o It had British proof marks and had been "nativized"  ;D (is that a word?) and the tracker was still reloading BP shells!!  :o

Two Flints: Swapped off the Spencer cause I had too many irons and not enough fire.
Fox Creek: One of the rifles my brother and I took was a Savage 99 in .300 Savage. The PH and trackers were very interested, as they had not seen a lever gun in the flesh before. Oh, to have pulled a Spencer out of the gun case ...
