I swapped off my Spencer some time ago, but want y'all to know that I very proudly wore my Spencer Shooting Society hat exclusively on a recent hunt for plains game in Africa. Used a rifle with that dreadful s*******s powder, though.

That reminds me of a story I read years ago. Not trying to "D.B Cooper" your thread. 

An American was hunting in Africa in the 1960's and noticed that one of the native trackers was using an antiquated 1876 Win. in 50-95 Express!!  It had British proof marks and had been "nativized"  (is that a word?) and the tracker was still reloading BP shells!!
