Howdy boys,
I fiddled around with my silverworking stamps and mixed 'em with my leather stamps and this border popped outta my head and surprised me. I thought maybe you fellas would be interested in seeing the results.

This thread had been neglected for a while anyways. ;D

Horsepen, I Think that You did a AWESOME job :o And I love the flow of the border and the lines, at first from a distanve I thought that you did a double stitch, but correct me if I am wrong, you just did a stich groove and then run the stich overwheel in the grove as if you were going to stitch? The flow of the flavors of stamps are very taste full not just the border but the whole holster!
Horespen, isn't there a full pic of that holster posted on here? If there is point me to it, I been looking and can't find it! I want to see it (Please)

I'm glad y'all enjoyed it. This is an unfinished holster that is still laid out flat.

Ace, your right about the groove and stitch wheel design. That outside one I'll sew up for the main seam. I'll get a picture on the show yer stuff thread when I get 'er done. Maybe I can get a picture of it while it's still flat if ya like. You fellas have anymore borders for this library?

Cheers,

H.P.,
I would be greatfull if you could post a pic of it , even if it is flat I don't care, I can't put my finger on it,  the Design of it is intreging, the border the rossette and other stamp combo's realy flow toghter, and i would like to see a full image of it! i do not know what it is that attacks me to see it, except the concept of the border and the types of stamps used toghter just does something for me! :o 8) 8) :)

Thanks

Hey there ya'll. Well, while this is not really a border, per se, it can be used as filler in a border, I guess. I found the instructions for it online (I forget where  :-\) and it's actually really simple.

I call it Fraugahyde, but you can call it a mess if you like.

The internal body of the design is the fraugahyde.

And I guess I just had to use it on my straps.

The idea is to take a large seeder, and line out where you would see "veins" or the large bumps. Then you take an intermediate size seeder, and run it down a couple of the edges of the larger seeder, and then use a dramatically smaller seeder (lightly) to fill in the area. It would drive you nuts on a saddle, I'd bet, but when all is said and done, looks pretty decent as filler, even with someone as poor as me working the leather. LOL.

RT, I like the pair in the middle real good. That concho with the froggyhide fits right nice together. If ya get tired of those just throw 'em on my bunk. I'll take 'em!!! ;D

Nice, RT. I like the use of the three different sized seeders to make an interesting filler/background pattern. Fraugahide. Good idea, it really does the trick. Nice work, too. Thanks for posting the pics.

Thanks. It's really easy to make, and like you said, some conchos are really well supported by the Fraugahyde as a design. Those conchos, by the way, are from Buffalo Brothers. They have a really nice selection there.

I'm glad you all like them, and I hope someone can find this technique useful. I did, so I figured why not pass it on. :D

All these are great!  It's nice to have some stuff to look at for fresh ideas.  Here's a border that I like to use thats simple, easy and effective.  And it only takes Two tools to do!  A shell border tool and a seeder.

Kid, I like that! It reminds me of knapped flint arrowheads or stone carving. Very cool. DM
